Paulie passed away peacefully in the Saanich Peninsula Hospital on the morning of November 11, 2015. Born on March 22, 1926 in Kitchener, Ontario, she will be greatly missed by her large family of dear friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband, William (Bill) Richardson.

Paulie and Bill spent their careers in the mining industry in the Yukon, Nova Scotia, and finally Yellowknife, Northwest Territories where they lived for 27 years. After retirement, they moved to North Saanich, BC and always welcomed with great warmth old friends and new to their home.

We will miss Paulie yodelling as we strolled through the bush, the joy she took in beautiful things, her sense of fun, and her creative style of storytelling.

The family would like to thank the medical and support staff of the acute care ward at Saanich Peninsula Hospital for their generous and caring attention.

No service by request.

Donations in Paulie’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

I was tracking the whereabouts of Paulie Richardson
I had last contact with Paulie in 2014. I had known Paulie and Bill from Yellowknife where I also resided for 10 yrs.
I became friends with them and spent xmas and dinners. Bill was an avid jogger and competed in various competitions for the seniors. I surely miss their company. I just googled Paulie and her picture appeared. I am very emotional right now, so thank you for reading my note.

I am so sorry to learn that Paulie has passed. I have her on my Christmas list, and it was only when her email bounced, and I searched for her that I came across this site. She was such a special person, and will have left a huge mark in the hearts of those who knew her and loved her.

To all of Aunt Paulie’s (and Uncle Bill’s) friends. So sorry to have missed spending time with both Uncle Bill and Aunt Paulie. Ongoing illness at “our end” prevented us from visiting for many years. What my father, Barlow (Bart) Richardson, told us of Uncle Bill and Aunt Paulie (and the little we knew from rare visits) let us know that as a couple, they enjoyed life immensely…. and with wonderful, far out, humour…. like his “seven straw night”. (while on a holiday, he put seven straws together and poked it into the drink of a stranger at a nearby table)… and on it went. He loved dogs and used to tell us kids stories about their German Shepherd dogs. We had been planning a trip to visit in the spring of 2016. So sorry.
May Uncle Bill and Aunt Paulie be forever happy and together, surrounded by their “friends” and canine companions.
