Reginald “Bruce” died suddenly on December 30th, 2013 in Victoria, BC.  He was born July 17th, 1931 in Calgary, Alberta.  He was predeceased by his wife Beverly (Gibson) in 2001 and sister Joan Dennison; Bruce is survived by his sons David (Laurie) and Tony, brother Jerry (Lorraine) and nieces Louise (Grant), Carol (Bruno) and Morgan. He will be greatly missed by Chunky the Cat and many others.  Bruce grew up in Nanaimo, which he always considered home. After high school, Bruce played senior hockey for the Nanaimo Clippers.  After a brief time spent in the RCAF and in the BC interior doing survey work near Williams Lake, Bruce embarked on a 30 – some year career in “the woods” as a logger, days he recalled very fondly.  Bruce loved fishing and being out on the ocean in one of the many boats he owned over the years.  His other main passions were building and flying radio-controlled model airplanes and watching the CFL.

A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 7th at 2 pm at McCall Bros. Downtown, Johnson & Vancouver Streets. Reception to follow in the McCall Family Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation at www.heartandstroke.bc.ca or Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon, 1212 West Broadway, Vancouver, British Columbia, V6H 3V2.

Rest in peace now, Bruce, be with Bev.
Our brief times together were good.

We were very sorry to learn of Bruce’s passing. He was a, I won’t say “loving” as that wasn’t Bruce’s style, but he was a very good husband to my Mother, an interested grandfather to my children and a good stepfather and father-in-law to my wife and myself. It’s the end of an era. We will miss him but we have no doubt that Bev and Bruce are together again and “gone fishin”……
    Condolences to the Conrod family.
