Robert Brian Harvey passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026, at age 86. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he lived a full, happy life of adventure, accomplishment, and deep love for family.
Robert was predeceased by Carol Elaine Harvey (née Green), his wife of more than 50 years and the love of his life; his parents, Lewis and Ann (née Lee); brothers Kenneth, Wilfred, and Alan; sisters Dorothy and Viola; and daughter-in-law Julie (née O’Hara).
Born in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, Robert moved with his parents to Vancouver Island’s Saanich Peninsula, where he spent most of his life.
Robert worked as a tugboat deckhand, timber cruiser, crane and heavy-machine operator, and commercial fisherman aboard his vessel, the Anadara. With strong mechanical aptitude and a passion for fixing things, he spent most of his career as a heavy-duty mechanic, earning his journeyman certification in Kitimat before working in Sidney, British Columbia.
Robert loved animals, especially the horses of his youth and the many dogs and cats he had over the years. He also played classical piano and cherished the water, boating and sailing locally and sharing vivid stories of his adventures. His family will remember his many experiences and the way he brought them to life.
Known as Bob and affectionately called “Bubba” by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Robert will be lovingly remembered by his sons Michael (Dennise) and David (Andrea); his grandsons Brandon (Kaity), Matthew (Brittany), Cameron (Erika), Nicholas (Kaitlyn), Jarod (Sarah), and Devon (Ha); his great-grandchildren Aubrey and Sawyer; and all who knew him. His stories, adventurous spirit, devotion to Carol, and love of family will remain his cherished legacy.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.
