CUTHBERT, Robert Bruce
September 18, 1959 — January 20, 2010
Bruce passed away suddenly in Victoria at the age of 50. He is survived by his loving family; daughter, Jessica Campbell; mother, Nancy; father, Larry & wife, Lillian; brother, Jim; sister, Sheila & husband, Monty; and favorite (and only) nephew, Jordan. Bruce is lovingly remembered by his many aunts, uncles and cousins in Alberta; cousin, Susan Vancouver; and family friends, Bev, Victoria, Lindsay, Victoria and Evelyn in England. Bruce was born and raised in Victoria, graduating from Victoria High School, then on to UBC where he earned his Engineering Physics degree. He starting his career at Centinel Vision then moved on to work with Questek Research and Development Corporation for 15 years. Bruce enjoyed working with his colleagues and friends, Rick and Andy. Bruce was blessed to have had so many close friends that stood by him through thick and thin. He, in return, was a true friend — with a great sense of humour. If you had a problem with your computer, car, toaster or shoe, a call to Bruce would solve it. His talent, knowledge, memory and communication skills were astounding. We have lost a treasure.
A Memorial Service will be held at McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Bruce’s favourite charity, The SPCA, 3150 Napier Lane, Victoria, BC V8T 4V5.

Roy Arsenault Bruce and I drifted apart once he went to study at UBC and I followed my dreams out East. Bruce was a terriffic friend and the times we shared together as young men in the 70’s bring a smile to my face.

Jessica Campbell (Cuthbert) I just wanted to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart, for all the good thoughts and prayers from everyone.
Dad I miss you so very much. I think of you every single day, but I know that someday we will be together again.

Alex Ferguson Nancy, Larry and Family.
I was so sorry to hear of Bruce’s passing, I remember him as a little Tyke when he and Hugh played in the “Sandbox” in Aldergrove
when they were both about two years old, nine days different in
age as Hugh’s birthday was on September 9th..
My Sincere Sympathy.

Alan Lowe It is with great sadness that we hear of the passing of our former Vic High colleague. The Vic High Class of ’79 share in your grief and offer our heartfelt condolences to Bruce’s family. Even though we had lost touch over the years, Bruce wa remembered as a tough but fun loving guy with a happy disposition. He was friends with many at school, including myself, and he will be missed. About 130 grads came together this summer to celebrate of 30th reunion of the Vic High Class of 79. We will remember Bruce at our future gatherings. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this most difficult time.

Claudia Blum Dear Family,
I would like to express my deepest sympathy.
In fall 2008 Bruce and I attended tennis lessons together. After the lessons we ran into each other every once in a while at different tennis courts. I didn’t know Bruce well but I was shocked reading about his passing. I hope you will find some strength in this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Claudia Blum

Cheryl D. I offer the Cuthbert family my condolences. Our heavenly Father knows the pain you are going through and long ago promised to soon bring about changes on the earth by means of his Son, Christ Jesus. (Isa.53:5)
At that time Isa.33:24 says: “No resident will say:’I am sick.'”; “All those in the memorial tombs will…come out.” (John 5:28,29); “He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.” (Rev.21:4)

Susan Jacobs I was surprised and saddened to read of Bruce’s passing in this morning’s paper. Last summer, Bruce answered an online ad my husband, Murray, had posted to sell our old back door. Bruce wanted it because it had a cat door in it. Both my husband and I thought his name sounded very familiar, but couldn’t figure out why. We went to deliver the door to Bruce, and from chatting with him, worked out that he and I had both attended Shoreline Junior High at the same time, while he and Murray had both attended Victoria Senior High at the same time. It was just a brief encounter, but memorable because both of us had independently crossed paths with Bruce in the past. Our sincere condolences to the family.
