It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Rob, beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many.
Rob was born in Victoria in April 1984, and grew up in Oak Bay, attending Oak Bay High before completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Victoria. A lifelong learner, Rob studied many subjects before finding a passion for land surveying at BCIT. His love for the outdoors and data made this career a perfect fit, and he quickly achieved success as a British Columbia Land Surveyor.
Rob enjoyed activities that would keep him in the wilderness for hours or days at a time: hiking, mountaineering, rock climbing, and trail running were all pursuits he enjoyed. He finished his first 50-mile trail race this past August and we all shared his pride in this accomplishment.
Most recently, Rob had settled in Vancouver with his dear wife Dayna. Prior to that, life had taken them to Toronto, Victoria, and (a very quick stint) in Sarnia, Ontario. Rob had no trouble making friends wherever he went. His quick wit and humour will be missed. Rob was a dog lover and he loved his goldendoodle Mark most of all.
Rob is survived by his wife of more than a decade, Dayna Jones; parents Paul Pearlman and Stephanie Soulsby; sister Lisa, as well as too many friends and family members to mention.
A celebration of Rob’s life will be held in Victoria at a date to be announced.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

My condolences. I went to COLT with Rob and also worked at WSP with him briefly. I still survey and heard his name in early December and I wondered about Rob. It would be my honour to attend his celebration of life/ funeral.
