October 16, 1962 – June 30, 2011
On June 30, Rodger Brady succumbed to a lengthy illness at Victoria General Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his loving wife Sharon (Lind), his two daughters Hannah and Claire, his mother Jean, his siblings Brian (Karen), Valerie (Huseyin), Greg (Jean), and his nieces and nephews Turan, Tanyel, Carter, Mitchell, Walker, Emily and also his mother-in-law Jean (Lind). His father Gordon (2010), and his father-in-law Gib Lind (2010) predecease him.
Rodger was a very unique, strong-willed individual. He loved music, cars, motorbikes, exploring the outdoors, and sailing. Despite being cut short, Rodger lived a full and happy life.

Rodger’s accomplishments include a glider and airplane pilot’s license, Grade 10 piano, successful rock n’ roll bands in the ‘80’s, degree with Distinction in Music Composition and Theory at the University of Victoria, Electrical Journeyman ticket, successes in many local sailboat races including one Swiftsure win and many club victories at the Canadian Forces Sailing Association.

Rodger was very proud of his family and their successes. He played a large role in raising his two daughters and he loved his wife very much.

He led a very active lifestyle and enjoyed hiking and camping in BC’s vast wilderness, including the Kokanee Glacier, Nornes Mountains, Cape Scott, and the West Coat Trail. He took his family on many adventures, mainly in his Shark 24’ sailboat. They sailed up to Princess Louisa, Desolation Sound, and various Gulf Islands many times.

Rodger had a career as a Marine Electrician, and his last and favourite position was instructing at Camosun College. He always had said he won the job lottery.

Rodger’s family is going to miss him very much.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, or the Queen Alexandra Hospital for Children are very encouraged. Thank you
