Rosalind Jean Brookes

November 27, 1951 – December 26, 2021

November 27, 1951 – December 26, 2021

Rosalind left us too soon after being diagnosed with ALS earlier in the year. She accepted her fate with dignity and told her family that she had a wonderful life and wouldn’t change a thing about it. She was born in Vancouver and cherished her life-long friendships with her east-end buddies. After marrying Jim, they moved to Belcarra and later to South Surrey and Victoria. Unable to have children, she and Jim adopted their daughter Lindsay who they adored. Rosalind worked at BC Tel for 30 years and had the good fortune to retire at the early age of 47. She enjoyed the many trips that she took with Jim and Lindsay. Owning a vacation home on Pender Island brought her immense pleasure. She is survived by her husband Jim, her daughter Lindsay (Yuri), her brothers Greg Chow, Russell Chow and Warren Chow as well as her sister Lorry MacDonald.

  2. To Jim and Lindsay and extended family
So very sorry to hear of the passing of Ros. I remember fondly working with Ros at B.C. Tel and of the time that we all got together on Pender Island. Seeing Dan and Lindsay playing together was a great, shared joy.
The home that you created with Ros was filled with love and warmth, which is a reflection of the beautiful family you are.
    Warm regards and condolences
    Mary, David and Dan Egan

  5. Dear Jim and Lindsay, it was with great sadness I read in today’s obituary of Rosalind’s passing.

I have many fond memories of volunteering with Ros at Southridge, no was not a word in her vocabulary she was always willing to give of her time.

A kind and gentle woman, I pray the memories will carry you through this hard time.

  6. Jim, I am sorry for your loss. Like yourself, Ros was a great person and I’m saddened to read this.
All the best to you and your daughter.

  8. Dear Jim and Lindsay, We are very saddened to learn of Ros’s death. Ros had that special way of quietly nourishing the love of so many during the time we worked with her and while we were South Surrey neighbours. Our hearts ache for your loss. Laurine and Michael.

  9. Lindsay, I offer you and your father my deepest sympathies over the loss of your mother. You are her wonderful legacy and loving memories of her will surely comfort and strengthen you for the rest of your life.

  10. My Deepest Sympathy Jim and Lindsay
Ros was a remarkable woman. I consider myself very lucky to have met her. She had a BEAUTIFUL SMILE and never ever said anything bad about anyone or anything.
You’re so right by saying she left way too soon but I can guarantee she is painless and is smiling down on you both. Her Love will continue to live through both of you. Always remember how much she LOVED YOU and all the PRECIOUS THINGS she taught you. She will be with you forever.
