The matriarch of our family, our beautiful mother has left us to be with the love of her life. Mom was born in Aylesbury, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter (Buck) Johnston in 1994; her daughter, Sharon McNeil in 2003 and her son, Todd in 2004. She will be deeply missed by her son, Rick (Rosemarie) and her daughters, Doneen and Alana Sue; her son-in-law, Dave McNeill; her brothers, Bob and Fred Harrison; her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and other family members. Mom was a very kind, caring and loving person, who loved life and nothing was more important to her than her family, she was the best mother and grandmother. Mom was a great seamstress, knitter and cook and she loved to dance and whistle. Mom was an inspiration to all of us in her courageous struggle with dementia. Thank you so much to Oak Bay Lodge Staff and Day Care Centre Staff for their caring for our Mom, she loved you all.
A Celebration of Mom’s Life will be held in the Spring, an announcement will be put in the paper. In lieu of flowers, if desired, please send donations in Mom’s name to the Alzheimer Society of B.C., # 202 – 306 Burnside Rd. W., Victoria, B.C. V8Z 1M1. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Neen,Sue,and Rick-I am so sorry for your loss.Your mom was such a lovely lady.I think our moms met each other when Doneen and I were infants, and I have many fond memories of watching t.v. together, playing in the back yard and in the basement on rainy days .Your mom was very kind to me when I was little and I’ll always remember her fondly. Our prayers go out to all of you.God bless.Love,Sharon Macdonald
You will be missed so much Aunti Rose! Even though we are sad here, I am sure that you are having a wonderful time meeting up with Uncle Buck again. The last time I saw him when he was at GF Strong, all he did was talk about you and his face beamed. To this day I have never seen anyone more in love and I doubt if it could ever be duplicated. Sharon and Todd are probably also jumping for joy, can’t believe their good fortune to be with you again…and I am sure Dad has already bombarded you with a zillion jokes.
My heart goes out to you Neen, Ric and Susan…..and Tammy, Ryan, Matthew and Noah as well as Sharon’s daughters. You are all in my prayers!
Love Marlene
Auntie Rosie was a very special woman and someone who will be deeply missed. Thinking of you often Neen, Alana Sue, and Rick during this difficult time.
Were in sorrow to hear about the death of Aunt Rose. She was always a very careing and cheerful lady. I will always remember the great times when we lived behind her and Uncle Buck on Orillia St. The times of my young childhood days when I came to her home for hotdogs and ice-cream.. Rest in Peace Aunt Rose.
Rose will be so missed by everyone who knew her…..much love to her family
I wish I could have met Rose and heard her whistle, but Neen made me feel like I knew her. My condolences to my dear friend Neen and her family.
Rose was a wonderful mother-in-law and, more importantly, a wonderful person. She will be missed. Much love to you. Dave and family
I never met Rose but i did have some phone contact with her, i found her to be a bubbly cheerful person who i will miss dearly, my heart felt feelings go out to Doneen and Sue they loved Rose very much, the time she spent in the nursing home was hard for them but they never missed a day of visiting whether it be both of them or just the one of them, condolences to the rest of her family, Love John …
Dear family. Rose has been a part of my life since she became my brother Buck’s young girlfriend. ..in Regina…I think I was 9 at the time. They slipped away to get married in Moosejaw Sask..and then she became family .Through the years we grew closer..and I watched as their little family grew..I even had occasion to babysit. Years fly by and we lost touch….but the memories will always remain…She was much loved and will be greatly missed…..this will be the first Christmas I have not received a card from Rose (Buck). in almost 65 years. Much love to you all.
On behalf of Aunt Helene’s children – our deepest symphaty.
