July 27, 1919 – May 25, 2012

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved Mother, who died at Victoria Hospice after a brief struggle. She was predeceased by her brother, Michael, sister, Juliann (Bengert) and nieces, Carol and Debbie. Rosina is lovingly missed by her daughter, Karen and fondly remembered by her great niece and nephew Michelle and Shawn. Born in Austria-Hungary, she immigrated to Canada with her family in 1929, settled in Toronto and relocated to Victoria in 2000. Rosina worked at many jobs but found her calling as a lab technician. After retiring, she also worked at Metro Toronto Conventions for a time. She loved crossword puzzles and playing bridge and was a fan of the Arts. Most people that knew my Mother probably played at least one game of scrabble with her – and probably lost! She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Victoria and St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Toronto.

A Memorial Service will be held in MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, on Tuesday June 5, 2012 at 2:00 pm with a reception to follow. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

    Dear Karen,

Your probably don’t remember me – I’m Katharina Krewedl’s daughter. She was Henry Betsch’s sister (she passed away in 2007). I was saddened to hear of your loss, please accept my condolences.

    Dear Karen,

Please accept my condolences on the passing of your mother. Aunt Rose had always a kind greeting for me. Although a distant cousin of my fathers, she will always remain an aunt to me. Please also accept the condolences of my parents, Henry & Julianne Betsch.

    Sincerest sympathies,

    Randolph Betsch

to Rosina’s family…..you will not recognize my name, I am the daughter of George Oxby, who knew Rosina in her later years when she lived in Victoria. I met Rosina at my father’s 90th birthday dinner at the Chalet restaurant in 2000 and when she attended the memorial for my Dad at our home in Deep Cove several years later. A charming lady indeed. You must miss her.
