The matriarch of our family passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 12, 2012. Mom was born in Victoria during the big snowstorm of 1916. Unable to get to the hospital, she was born at home. Ruth was predeceased by two husbands; Benny Barry (1958) and Marty (1996); beloved son Ron; sister Marjorie; brother Ron and granddaughter Kimberly. Left to share her life the stories of her life are daughter; Marcia (Bob); grandchildren Steve (Gail), Cam (Kerry), Amber (Kelly) and special great-grandson Vladimir; nieces Judy Blanshard and Judy Pitcher and their families; nephew Terry Morey (Joyce) and extended family Lisa and Bill, Steve and Lesa, Andrew, Denelle, Sarah, Kristal (Shane), Kaden and Hudson. Mom will always be remembered for her fiesty attitude, amazing sense of humour and loyalty to those she loved and cared about. Thanks so much to the nurses on 3 North at RJH, especially Laura and Sailey and for the years of wonderful care from Dr. Erik Shafonsky.
A memorial service will be held in MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 23, 2012. Donations may be made in mom’s memory to the Kidney Foundation, www.kidney.ca. Condolences may be offered below.

I was so sorry to see your mom has passed Marcia. I always enjoyed our chats. She told me that I wouldn’t see her on Global for her 100th birthday. I’m so sorry that she was correct.
Ruth told me that she was very grateful for having you for a daughter.
