I’m sorry to hear of the loss of Ruth, better known by my late mother, Vivienne Learoyd, as Cousin Ruth or Big Ruth. I’m Peter, the youngest of Viv’s three boys (Trevor and Robin are my two older brothers) and we all have fond memories of when Ruth and Uncle Trevor brought the whole family over to visit us at our home in Shaftesbury Avenue, Leeds in the UK way back in the 1960s.

If you’re not sure, Louisa Kathleen Hazlett was our maternal grandmother although none of us remember her as she died in 1952. I was interested to see that she and Ruth shared her name. My full name is Peter Hazlett Learoyd so I feel a strong connection with your family.

Our mother passed away in November 2015 but we were all delighted that she was able to visit Canada and see some (or all) of you about 10 years ago. We three are all in our sixties now and we’re planning a trip to Co Monaghan in Ireland in June hopefully to visit the original family farm, Killygavna, Tydavnet and the surrounding area as none of us has been before.

I do hope you see this message as it would be lovely to make contact. I’ve tried searching your names on LinkedIn, Facebook and so on but without success.

    With love and fond memories.

    Peter

I have very happy memories of the times Ruth spent with me during her vistis to Edmonton. Also, the many enjoyable family times that we spent together both in Victoria and Edmonton. It is these memories that we will cherish and remember together. Our thoughts go out to you at this most difficult time.

God bless you, and our love to everyone,

    Dave
