Born in Victoria, BC. Ruth Statham (nee Buskell) passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on December 24, 2024 at the age of 72.
Preceded by her husband Gary (2019). She leaves behind children Breanne Robinson (Gordon), Bradley Statham, her grandchildren Oliver & Theodore, as well as dear friends.
Ruth was a world traveler and had the opportunity to explore many countries, cities, parks and landmarks in her lifetime. Her love of travel started at a young age with many stories of childhood on a Canadian army base in Germany.
Ruth was an avid gardener and spent years cultivating her own beautiful backyard garden. In her retirement she volunteered with various organizations in the Oceanside area. Among them, Milner Gardens was a place she particularly loved. In the summers she enjoyed sailing through the gulf islands and exploring local island beaches.
Her working life was spent as an early childhood educator where she adored all the children with whom she worked. She spoke of many of them fondly for years after. Ruth was always young at heart; she was still enjoying her favourite children’s songs and nursery rhythms to her final days.
We would like to thank The Summit at Quadra village and her amazing care-aids for their kindness and the care they took of Mom in her final years.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.
