Born in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia February 21, 1946 and passed away peacefully in Victoria, British Columbia November 14, 2018. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas William Coulter and Dorothy May Coulter. She is survived by her husband, Tom; her stepdaughter, Penny (John Harris) and beloved grandsons, Sam and Max. She leaves behind cousins and families in Australia.

Sandra crossed the equator for the first time in 1967, landing in Vancouver. Her plan was to work, travel and ultimately return to Australia. Over her life, she was successful in visiting all of the world’s continents except Antarctica (she came close travelling through the Straits of Magellan at the southern tip of South America). There were many trips to Australia to visit family and travel around that vast country.

Sandra had an extensive cookbook collection and was a regular visitor to that section of the local public library. Known for her fabulous cooking and witty humour, an invitation for dinner was snatched up by one and all.

The staff at Sunrise of Victoria and Dr. Cotterell are to be thanked for their care and attention.  Sandra was also well cared for and supported by her wonderful personal caregivers, Yvonne, her Mom Ati, Charlane, friend Diane Adams and most of all, her best friend, Mare Brown.

Her wishes were to be cremated and her ashes scattered on the Pacific Ocean. Her best friend, Mare Brown, will do so at a later date.

There will be no funeral service or celebration of life but you may wish to consider making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society which provided incredible support to Sandra and Mare during this difficult journey.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

I met Sandra while working at IBM. A few years later I found her in Vancouver and asked her to join me for a drink after work. She came with her workmate and we hit it off and eventually have been together for 23 years.

    Thanks Sandra!

I met Sandra and Tom as neighbours , and somewhere along the line discovered that she and I shared the same birthdate!
    It was an extra bond.
I always enjoyed knowing her, and shall miss her chirpy attitude and accent!
Condolences to Tom, and his family and to Sandra’s family and staunch friends.
    You will be missed Sandra!
    Fran K.
