Sarwan Singh Johel died peacefully on June 28, 2017 in Victoria, BC. He was born on May 30, 1931 in Jandiala District Julandar, Punjab India. He was predeceased by his wife Kashmir Kaur, and parents Santa Singh and Kartar Kaur. He is survived by his children Nirmaljit, Balwinder, Sukbir, Jasvir and Gurbinder and 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
He came to Canada in 1949 and started working in the Mesachie Lake Mill with his father and brothers. He continued to work in various lumber mills in the Cowichan Valley until he retired from the Youbou mill in 1988.
Services will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at 11:00 am. Temple service will be held at the Sikh Temple on 1210 Topaz Avenue, Victoria, BC at 1:00 pm.
