Sean Thomas Devlin

December 19, 1980 – June 27, 2013

With profound sadness Sean was tragically taken from us in a workplace accident, leaving behind the loves of his life, Sasha and his four-month-old son, Shea; family, Dan, Mona, Drew, nephew Jordan, Britt, grandfather Gordon Huntingford and his diggy “dawgs” Tonka and Mackie; and a legacy of friendships from the many chapters of his life. Sean grew up in Victoria playing lacrosse and hockey. At 19 he left Victoria to start his career in the oil patch. His career took him all over the prairies and as far away as Australia. When he met Sasha he immediately knew she was the “one.” They started their life together in Peace River, Alberta where he was the happiest he had ever been and had everything he ever wanted.

A Celebration of Sean’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort. Casual attire, as Sean would want, is preferred. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sean’s name to the SPCA. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

  1. Dan, Mona and Family,

I worked for you many years ago at CARTEL with fond memories. I am so sad to hear this terrible news about Sean, whom I remember very well, when Mona would come in with the kids as she so often did. Being a mother of three myself, I cannot even IMAGINE what pain this must cause for all of you.

Sending you all a big hug from across the pond.

With all the love in my heart,

  4. Graham is living in Calgary now and phoned me this morning to tell me of Sean’s passing. Words just don’t seem to be enough at a time like this. I have been thinking about Sean and your family all day. I have very fond memories of our time together at the hockey rink. May your memories, family and friends help you through this difficult time.

  5. Dan and family,

Although I had never met Sean, I have had the privilege to work with his father for a few years. I have come to know Dan as a smart, funny, caring and thoughtful person. All of which are the qualities a father passes on to his kids. I am sure that during Sean’s life Dan taught him these qualities which made him the man and father that everyone loved and admired.

I am sorry to Dan and his family for their loss and it is clear that Sean was loved and will be missed dearly.

  6. We were so sorry to hear about your loss. Sean was a joy to be around, he embraced life and radiated happiness. We loved his “Devlin grin!” and our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends.

  7. While I had not seen Sean in many years, he was one of my best buds through junior high and high school. And I was lucky to have him as my grad date.
Sean had a huge heart, warm smile and a wicked sense of humor. I can hear his voice and laugh like it was yesterday.
I was so so saddened to hear of his passing and I can not imagine all that the family must be going through right now.
My thoughts are with you all during this unbelievably heartbreaking time. May you find comfort in all the amazing memories and from one another.

  8. Mona, Dan, Drew & Jordan, and Sean’s family Sasha & Shea, we are so saddened by the news of Sean’s passing. Your family and ours have always had a strong bond through Lacrosse with our boys Sean and Ryder, Drew and Travis. Dan, I will never forget how hurt you were when we lost Travis. To lose a child is the worst tragedy for a family, but please remember this…Victoria loves and embraces their athletes, we share in your loss, and we are all beside you.

  9. Dear Dan & Family,

Our heartfelt condolences to you and your family.

    Kindest Regards

  10. I knew Sean when we were kids playing hockey. He was a real character on and off the ice – had many laughs and good times together – especially the “road trips!”

    My condolences to his family.
