
Sheila Ann Derks (nee Colbert), 87, of Sidney, BC, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2016 in Victoria, BC.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Church, 10030 Third Street, in Sidney, BC with Father Rolf Hasenack, OP of St. Elizabeth Church, officiating. Private burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery. Arrangements are by McCall Gardens Funeral Home.
Sheila was born in Victoria, BC to Reginald Colbert and Irene Colbert (nee Bremner) on July 26, 1929. She went to school at Victoria, BC, graduated from Victoria High School. She married Antonius Johannes Derks on May 17, 1958 in Campbell River, BC. She graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, Victoria, BC. She worked as a Registered Nurse until her retirement in 1990. She was involved in many ministries within St. Elizabeth parish for over 30 years.
Sheila is preceded in death by Parents (Reginald & Irene), brothers (Jim & John), and sister (Joan). Sheila is survived by her sister Susie Griffin.
Children: Francina, William, Joseph (Latisha), Marie (Keith), Ann (Bruce)
Grandchildren: Angela (Kam), Tyrell (Krystle), Stephanie (James), Andrew (Katie), Nicole (Jon), Anthony, and Austin
Great Grandchildren: Kalysta, Sophia, John, Lilly, and Caleb
Numerous nieces and nephews
The family of Sheila wishes to extend our sincere thanks to St. Elizabeth Parish and the Shoal Centre.
