Sheila passed away May 2, 2011. Sheila is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, (Alan); her children, Doug (Penny) Macfarlane, Linda Murphy, Kerry (Jeremy) Macfarlane Bell; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and by her special niece, Patricia Doheny. Sheila was predeceased by her father and mother, Frank and Nan Strachan and by her sister, Dorothy and her husband, Frank Doheny. She loved her family and they loved her. Sheila was an active and accomplished person with many good friends. She was a student leader, an athlete, and very involved in the community. Above all, she was a loving mother and a supportive wife. Grateful thanks to caregiver, Donna Lowres and to the staff of Acacia Ty Mawr Manor at Shawnigan Lake.

I will always remember Sheila’s gorgeous smile. I want to send the video my teaching partner and I took of her at Acacia when we visited with our class last year. I will try to attach it here but if that won’t work could someone send me their e-mail address and I will send it along to you. I hope we can get together over the summer with Debbie and David who also asked me to send on their sympathies.

  • Sue (Payne) Bennett

    To all the family,

I was so sorry to receive the news, but do know that it was expected.
I cannot begin to relay all the wonderful memories our families shared over the years, spending time at Shawnigan, Sheila’s laughter, when sharing a drink with Mom and Dad, and telling stories of their times in Mexico. And the few, but good times, Kerry and I have connected over the past few years, checking up on how our parents/families are, and reminiscing.

My thoughts are with all of you, and I will continue to look back on old memories that stay with us forever……..!!

    Sue
