December 1, 1971 – June 27, 2013

Passed away peacefully on June 27, 2013 and is survived by her husband, Mark, step-daughter Stephanie, parents Dennis and Dianne Truss, father-in-law Vic Lindal; sister Dawn Truss, brothers-in-law Dean Lindal (Kristen) and Darren Lindal (Marile), sister-in-law, Andrea Adams, nephews Ryan Truss, Josh, Zack, Aiden, Ben and Brody Lindal, and Jeffery Adams, nieces Larissa and Tasha Adams and Rayne Lyall, uncles and aunts Tom and Cynthia Suffield, and Gina Porth, and cousins Trevor and Kristin Suffield, Laural Porth-Jones and Greg and Brock Porth.

Sheila was a wonderful, compassionate person who spent her life brightening every room she entered with her smile and warmth. She wants everyone to know she is not in pain and is resting comfortably and waiting for the resurrection. She accomplished a lot in her 41 years, and will be missed, and fondly remembered. She was a strong pillar in the Victoria Revival Fellowship Church, and was always quick to offer anyone prayers and spiritual support even as she struggled physically. She earned degrees in Social Work and Arts (Psychology major) from the University of Victoria. During her working career, she keenly cared for her clients as a service agent at Veteran’s Affairs in Victoria until she retired last year. Sheila enjoyed traveling and put her talents to work in several countries through her church and volunteer work with Canadian Crossroads International. Sheila loved music and was a talented pianist. She had a passion not only for friends and family, but clients and everyone she met. She always saw the good in people and wanted to support and encourage them in everything they did. In life, she taught us so much and in death, she has the ultimate victory.

A celebration of Sheila’s life will be held at McCall Bros. Downtown on Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Friday, July 5 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

I will always remember Sheila’s warmth, compassion, strength and courage as she journeyed forward. She was a valued colleague who cared deeply about the Veterans that she worked with, always willing to to do anything that she could to help out and make a real difference. She taught us all about resilience and the determination that it takes to live your life with a chronic disease. My thoughts and prayers are with Mark, Stephanie and all of the family that are dealing with this untimely loss; Sheila will travel with you in your hearts for the remainder of your days.

  • Jim Embury

We mourn the loss of Sheila but rejoice in the promise of the resurrection promised to her through the Holy Ghost.

1 Thes 4: 13-15. But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.

For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.

For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.

    Sad day .
I was happy that Sheila made it last year on my birthday cruise. That took a lot of courage and was very much appreciated.
I loved how cheerful she always was.
Particularly impressed with her humour as she sent out tidbits from her I Pad.
Always thoughtful even though she must have been in pain.
You are fortunate Mark, to have your strong faith, to carry you in this stressful time.
    Love Dad
