Sheila passed away at Saanich Peninsula Hospital, ECU 2. She is survived by her husband, Cecil, of nearly 39 years; children, Susan (David), Bruce (Alison) and Kathy (David); 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Jean and brother, John.
Sheila attended Monterey School, Oak Bay High School and the Provincial Normal School (Lansdowne). She taught in Vancouver and married Ben Domoney and raised their children. The family moved from Richmond to Port Alberni where Sheila also taught. In 1968, they moved to Victoria and Sheila joined the staff at Metchosin Elementary School where she taught until she retired in 1987. During that time, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and in 1977, Cecil and Sheila were married. Sheila had a lifelong interest in water colour painting and in recent years, took lessons to improve her skills. Throughout her life she enjoyed classical music and attended the symphony, opera and theatre with Cecil. Sheila and Cecil enjoyed Scottish Country dancing and she taught it for many years. She had a long association with the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival and was a member of the 1948 Grad Committee for Oak Bay High School for many years. Sheila and Cecil became part of the Piers Island community where they built a cottage on the island. After retirement, they enjoyed travelling widely.

Bryan Gardner Mrs Gould taught me twice, Gr 1 and 3 at Metchosin School. I have always remembered her kind ways and words. She was a wonderful person and educator. I can still hear her telling me to sit up straight or I will regret it when I am older…I think about it when I’m slouching to this day! I offer my sincre condolences to the family and will make a donation to the Heart and Stroke foundation. Bryan

Brenda Harvey To Sheila’s family: Sheila was the Adjudicator’s Secretary at the Greater Performing Arts Festival when I first volunteered in the Vocal Section. She helped me learn the ropes of my job – and she did it with patience and a good sense of humour. I am grateful to have known her and will not forget her contributions to the music community. Sincere condolences on your loss. Sincerely, Brenda Harvey

wendy eden Dear Cec- I was greatly saddened to hear of Sheila passing .I had a long association with Sheila starting with my public health nursing days at Metchosin elementary. She invited me to her class room on numerous occasions. She was especially keen on my reinforcing the germ reduction hand washing lesson and prevention of spreading illness in the class room. Not sure if it ever made a difference but we sure tried! I always felt she had a real love for those kids. She didn’t tolerate rude or poor behavior but she was genuinely caring and dedicated to her charges. I was ever so glad to become reconnected with her over here at Piers. I bought many of her beautiful hand painted cards and always was greeted on the dock by the two of you each Friday morning when tying up on my way to yoga. Our last conversation was about our leaving. Her words to me were” go before you have left it too late”. An interesting comment for sure. I do wish you well and in time some peace. I will miss you both as we move up to Parksville. Another page turned. With much affection- Wendy Eden
Dear Cec
I was saddened to read about your dear Sheila’s passing and offer my sympathy and thoughts to you at this time. You and I and the likes of Phil and Brin sort of grew up with Sheila she being a year ahead of us at Monterey a very attractive and vivacious girl with additional blessings of being a very bright student and good athlete. I cannot deny my very youthful admiration and indeed, attraction ! In the years later it was always a joy to know that we would see you both from time and share some fond and fun reminiscences. I did pass along Sheila’s obituary to Brin, Phil and Jim Trimble who I know share in my thoughts on this occasion.
Kind regards, Cec.
