Sheila was a beautiful soul and her bright spirit and warm heart touched each and every person and animal that crossed her path. She spent her life caring for others both as a nurse and nursing home companion, and her compassion for all living creatures was endless. She loved to travel and visit new places and she went on many wonderful trips with friends and family over the years.
Sheila will be remembered and loved always by her husband Richard Weatherill, her twin daughters Danielle Smith (Jason) and Marika Smith, her granddaughters Kenzie and Piper, her sister-in-law Lauraine Derman and niece Michelle Derman.

Tara Rahemat I am so saddened to hear of Sheila’s passing. I worked at Ballet Victoria with her as a volunteer and then as the Coordinator. Sheila was an absolute delight to see each and every show. She was a compassionate and loving soul. Her warmth and her laughter and her quirky style will forever have a place in my heart. Sincerest love to her family from my family.

Mike and Sandy Sharlow Sandy and I were so saddened to hear of Sheila’s passing. The three of us were long time volunteers with Ballet Victoria and we were always greeted by Sheila with caring and a genuinely warm embrace. It was always a pleasure to see her and at the last performance we reminisced about the early days of cleaning up after the dance events at the old Truth Center. Sheila always talked about her involvement with her family and her obviously rewarding work as a caregiver.
She was a classy and stylish lady. We will truly miss her and send our thoughts and condlences to her family and friends.

Irene Laing Sheila and I worked together at the Jubilee Hospital, when the CCU (Coronary Care Unit) was in its start up stage. We met occasionally at School Alumni Lunches, and caught up on Kids and Grand Kids.
I was driving on Veterans Way last month when I saw her sitting at a Bus Stop. I parked the car and we chatted again for a few minutes. I am so glad to have had that short visit with her. Yes a lovely Lady, with a sense of the ridiculous. I am glad to have known her.
My deepest sympathy to you her Family. You are the better for having her in your life.

Devon Windsor Rick, Marika, Danielle, and family:
We are so sorry for your loss. We loved having Sheila as a neighbour and remember her making us feel so welcome when we first moved to the neighbourhood. It was wonderful having a cat lover next door who watched over all the neighbourhood felines. We wish we’d had more time to get to know her better. Our condolences,
~Devon and Leo

Michelle Boden Sheila was the living embodiment of kindness.
She was a gentle soul who softly and gracefully spent her life making this world a better place for the lives she touched. Her passing is such a loss to our family and to those she made “her” family. Danielle and Marika – Rick, Laurainne and Michelle — I have no words to express how heavy my heart is for you all. With all my love xxx

Susan Andreeff Sheila was unique. She was quiet and listened to those around her, always coming up with an answer, or something funny to make you feel better . Sheila was my cousin. In our youth we were together every day playing “wedding”, “queen” (she was always the queen)…making families out of . bugs…playing in the sand box, swimming at Willows beach, floating on logs….. hiking up Mount Finlayson …..we were carefree and happy…Vic was always by our side.
Those memories are vivid in my mind, and I can still hear her laughter…
I will hang on to those memories….and she will always stay with me because those were the best days because of Sheila.
To the family I say…hold on to all the memories you made together…I’m so sorry and hope you can all find some peace in those memories.

Judy Brownoff Rick and Family, I’m so sorry for your loss. Sheila was so friendly and caring. It seems not long ago her and I were chatting at the Cedar Hill Arts Centre around the next election and the loss of Vic. I would run into her at a number of things in Saanich like Gorge on Art. The loss of a loved one touches so many. Take time to remember all you shared together. Judy

Peggy and John De La Torre Sheila was a beautiful person inside and out. It’s such a shock to us that she passed so suddenly. We never got to do one of her bucket list items of going up in a hot air balloon here in Napa/Sonoma. My kitties loved her so much when she came to visit us. She was a special cousin who we will miss terribly.

Vivienne Walsh Rick, Marika, Danielle and family.
So Sorry to hear this Sheila was a fabulous person, so very friendly, warm and caring. She had a great memory for someone whom absorbed conversations, peoples faces and names very easily and made everyone feel instantly part of her family. Over her few trips or so over to England were seperated each time by quite a while, it was like no time had parted inbetween and she remembered anything she had learnt so there was no need to restart any friendship, everyone just picked up where travel distance had left them apart. Loved her colour and her love of cats and people was exceptional. Going to miss that never got another opportunity to see her and her smile again. Much Love from Vivienne and Richard and Peter. (England). xxx
So sorry to hear of Sheila’s passing. We worked side by side at Ballet Victoria for a number of years. We talked about cats and music and dance every time. Sheila was a lovely caring soul and she will be missed by all those who knew her great big heart. My condolences to her family.
