Passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2016 in Victoria, BC. She was born on June 26, 1944 in Malaysia.
Predeceased by her father Lee Yuen; mother Ng Chow Lee; sister Karen; brothers Wai Hing and Kerman. Sophie will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 38 years, Samuel; her son Samson and his wife Mandy and grandchildren Angelina and Alexander; her sisters Julia (Jan) and Siew Woon; her brothers Wai Mun (Ling) and Sherman (Irene) and many nieces and nephews.
Sophie spent the early part of her life in Malaysia and moved to Victoria in 1973. She helped her husband Samuel run Sammy’s restaurant in View Royal for 20 years until retiring in 2002. Sophie loved cooking, traveling, gardening, and playing with her grandchildren. Her loving spirit and warmth will be with us in our hearts forever.
Many thanks to Dr. Chew, Dr. Warren, Dr. Berrang, Dr. Fenton, the nurses from Victoria Hospice, the staff at VIHA and her friends and relatives that gave her so much love and support.
A celebration of Sophie’s life will be held at McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, Johnson and Vancouver Streets, on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 10:30 am. A reception will follow at Golden City at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Victoria Hospice or the BC Cancer Foundation.

To Sam, Sampson and family:
My deepest condolences at this time of your loss of your beloved Sophie.
My family enjoyed our kinship, love of our children growing up in Victoria, seeing you at both Sammy’s and at social and family clan gatherings.
I will remember Sophie as a a kind, caring mother, grandmother, supportive wife to Sam, a positive, good natured woman and friend to many.
