Stan passed away peacefully in his sleep at Broadmead Lodge with Mae at his side on Saturday, October 5, 2019. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mae; son, Steven (Elizabeth); daughter, Susan (Mike); loving grandchildren; sisters, Emily & Rita and his brother, Rob.

Born in Leask, Saskatchewan, he later moved to Victoria and met his lovely wife-to-be Mae Robinson. The two were married on November 16, 1950 and they were true to each other ever since. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father, and a true friend to many.

In addition to owning and operating Stan Hayward Painting and Decorating, he was a member of Y’s Men’s International and volunteered in his community. Stan had an active retirement spent square dancing, traveling, fishing, tending to his tomato crop, and spending time with friends and family. He will be forever missed by all whom he connected with.  He was such a good man.

A Celebration of his Life will be held October 18, 2019 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, 1973 Cultra Avenue (at East Saanich Road), Saanichton, BC V8M 1L7.

Mrs. Hayward, Steve, Susan and families. Our family is deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Hayward. Growing up on Davida Street with your family a few homes away was a treat for our family. My parents enjoyed the company of Stan and Mae and I still call Steve a true friend with whom we have shared many experiences including riding in the back of the Mr. Hayward’s painting truck to school and soccer games!
Our sincere condolences to your family.

On this Thanksgiving weekend I’m enjoying the memories of so many family gatherings which we have shared. Thanksgiving and Christmas and Easter with Uncle Stan and Auntie Mae were traditions of my childhood. There were games, laughter and always good food, As our families grew there was a genuine welcome to continue sharing special times. Stan’s warm and quiet humour and Mae’s unflagging joy of life are a legacy to us all. Stan’s devotion to his family is renewed and demonstrated daily in the lives of his children and their loving families. My heart is with you as we say the final goodbye to Uncle Stan.

  • Shirley Cannon

I have been friends with Stan and Mae for seventy years; my late husband Len and I met them through the Y’s Men and Y’s Menette Clubs. I have many happy memories of those times. Most recently I’ve visited Mae and Stan in the Broadmead Lodge. My thoughts are with Mae and the family at this sad time.
    Love Shirley

Mae Susan and Steven I was saddened to hear of Stan’s passing. He played an important role in my life
As I served my painting and decorating apprenticeship with Stan Hayward Painting and is what I continued for all of my working career. Stan was a very fair person and I can honestly say the best boss I could have asked for.
    Regards Richard Pedersen
