Stephen Patrick Hoare passed away suddenly at home in Sidney, BC at the age of 71. Stephen was born in Halifax, NS and was predeceased by his parents, sister, brother, Terry then 10 days after Stephen’s death, his brother Tim passed away.

Stephen often spoke fondly about his time working as a groom with thoroughbred racehorses at Hastings Racecourse in Vancouver & Sandown Racetrack in North Saanich.

The Loves of his life were his Gibson guitar ‘Gwendolyn’ & his Fender Strata ‘Carmelita’. Stephen never married, he fell in love with “D” when he was 17 though she married & moved on, he stayed loyal to that one love until his final breath hoping to one day be with her in heaven.

Stephen was Loved.  He will be missed by those that knew him.

Stephen I miss you.. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about messaging you to meet outside for a smoke and catch up on the ‘latest’. We shared many confidences and I miss having my friend to bounce ‘things’ off of or to give my perspective to your ‘things’.
You were always there when I needed someone, in particular, those times when Bill collapsed no matter what time of day or night, I could call you to come & help me stand him back up again or wait for an ambulance. You were the one that noticed my baby dog Skitter was struggling to breath, I thought it was the diabetes medicine he was being given, you suggested otherwise which on a trip to the vet, turned out to be lung cancer. Then after Skitter passed, you made the 3+ hour round trip ferry ride in dismal weather over to the mainland with me to pick up my ‘heartmend’ puppy from the shelter.
You shared your heartbreak with me regarding your undying love for Debbie, never have I met anyone so loyal to someone they loved. I know you will be united in Heaven.
My friend, you were too hard on yourself but found solace playing your guitars if only for yourself to hear. It was your escape, your joy. My sons love Gwendolyn & Carmelita & thank you for your generosity of them.
Stephen, go peacefully, knowing you were loved, knowing you were cared about deeply. I will always miss you and always treasure what your friendship gave me.
R.I.P All of your siblings are reunited now.

Run Free With The Thoroughbreds My Dear Friend.
    Goodbye for now
