Steve lost his very courageous battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at home on October 25, 2018, holding his wife’s hand. Steve was born on April 14, 1956 in North Vancouver. Survived by his loving wife Janet Baier, mom Joan Ross, dad Donald (Joni) Jellie, brother Ken (Anna), nephew Ryan Jellie, Dick and Irene Ross.
Steve didn’t have any children but he became the best stepdad ever to Ryan and Amanda Baier, and he loved them as if they were his own. He also inherited a couple more young people he loved as his kids Brittany and Hannah. Steve had many other family members, close cousins, loving friends and co-workers. He was loved by all who knew him and will be sadly missed.
Special thanks to Dr. K. Kuss, Dr. JP. McGhie, Dr. Joe, Dr. Fenton and Dr. Samphire, as well as the Home Care Nursing and Hospice.
A Celebration of Steve’s Life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria BC, on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 2:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Agency or Hospice in Steve’s name.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Steven’s departure from this realm leaves a very large hole in my heart, as it does with many others who knew him. Steven was a hopeless romantic, a creative force to be reckoned with, and had such a gentle, loving spirit you could not help but be drawn to him. The vitality and strength of this very special person will stay with us in our memories of him, and his creativity will live on in the many songs and poems that he put to paper. I am so blessed to have had you in my life, Steven, and I know I will see you again.
I am so glad he had a loving wife and family to help him through his illness. You are all beautiful to have done everything you could to make him comfortable in his time of need.
So sorry that you had to go too soon, Steve. I will always remember you for your friendliness and always enjoyed our conversations.
Godspeed my Campbell River high school buddy. We sat many a sunny day in the park with our 12 string guitars, writing, playing and singing. Your creative talent was noticed by everyone who had the pleasure of hearing your music. I will remember you most by your ever-present smile, buckskin fringed coat, 12 string guitar and huge heart that invited everyone in. Until we meet again Steve…..
With Love, Sandi
Condolences to the family.
I had the pleasure of working with Steve for the last 6 1/2 years. I considered him a mentor and friend. He constantly provided me with support. I would often call Steve when I was having a bad day and he was always there to listen and provide support. He changed mine and my family’s life for the better and for that we will always be grateful. Rest well my friend. God Bless

Steve was a very kind man, sadly taken too soon from a loving family he adored.
He was a good man and is missed by those who knew and loved him.
Condolences to his family and friends.
Sincerely, Rick Baier
So sorry to hear of Steve’s passing. I didn’t know him that well from Black Diamond but the times that I did have the pleasure of speaking with him you could tell that he was a good kind person. I’m sure he will be missed by his family and friends
Deepest condolences to the family, although I did not know Steve personally, I knew him through the eyes of his wonderful wife Janet who expressed through many stories what a sharing, hard working, selfless, and loving man he was. Great love deserves great grief. Hoping the grief is touched by grace as this kind man seemed to be.
