Stuart died on September 14, 2019 in Victoria, B.C. after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Christchurch, NZ on October 30, 1946. Stuart, and his wife, Sandy Drever, owned and operated the Victoria Squash Club for many years. He was predeceased by his parents, Pearce and June (nee Irvine) and his brother, John. He is survived by his wife, Sandy; sisters-in-law, Sharon Dixon and Skip (Dick) Angus and nephews, Bob, Sean, Michael, Andrew and Jeremy and their families.
A Celebration of Stuart’s Life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Agency, 2410 Lee Avenue, Victoria, B.C., V8R 6V5 or Victoria Hospice Society, 3rd Floor, Richmond Pavilion, 1952 Bay Street, Victoria, B.C. V8R 1J8.

Sandy and family my thoughts are with you at this sad time.
Stuart was a bright light in the world of squash and always ready and willing to help all levels strive to achieve success and satisfaction from a demanding sport.
Stuart will be remembered with love and respect through the many, many lives which he touched in such a positive way.
Stuart was a role model for me and many other young squash players whose lives he enhanced. From the first time I met him I was struck by his warmth and the care he showed for the people around him. It was an honour to know him and call him a friend.
An inspiring individual – lived well, loved life, enjoyed life; loved people spending copious time with them. He changed the lives of so many by encouraging us to try (and succeed) at Squash.
The island and the world lost a wonderful squash supporter and coach last week, who helped bring the passion and joy of this great game to thousands.
Our condolences to you Sandy, but rest assured that Stuart left a little something of himself in all those he coached, played, and mentored.
I was oh so very sad to hear of Stuart’s passing. How very special it has been to have had him as my squash mentor and friend for many years.
Stuart came to Whitehorse, Yukon many times to give clinics and he will be missed by the Whitehorse squash community. Greatly missed.

If only I could send you strength in little packages, a truck would be on its way.
Stuart’s reputation not only as a unique supporter of squash players but also as a mensch reached far and wide. It was at the other side of Canada, in Moncton, that I was instructed to “go and see Stuart once you get to Victoria”. I feel blessed to have received that advice.
Stuart welcomed me to the city, to his club, and to the community. Little did I know about his legacy, his decades of dedication and support to women, men, and children who like to serve. But I instantly cherished his humour, his advice, and how he brought people together.
And that is the essence of human life: Connecting with one another.
Stuart facilitated more of that than he would ever know. His heritage lives on in all of us whose lives he touched.

He always praised our students for being so respectful, attentive, and for participating with enthusiasm; all qualities he emanated himself. Our community has lost a great teacher and friend.
