12 January 1938 – 30 June 2013

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dearest Suzy after a courageous struggle with cancer.

Suzy is predeceased by her husband Albert (Paddy) and her father Avo. She is survived by her loving parents Tom and Ceda; her companion Joe (Joey, Mary and Alexandra); her brothers Tony (Dianne) and Nigel (Darshi, Rani); her nephews Colin (Jesse), Lindsey (Dwane) and Adrian; her great-niece Rhye; and four-legged Riley.

Suzy was born in Teheran, Iran. For the first 10 years of her life, she spoke Armenian and Persian, and was educated at French schools. She moved to England in 1949 where she graduated from Blenheim Secondary Modern as head girl. Suzy went to Leads College of Commerce where she typed 70 wpm with one inch nails, and then became a legal secretary for 24 years in numerous firms in England and Canada.

Suzy had a special flair for interior decoration, dress and design. She enjoyed travelling the world, exotic food and sailing. Suzy had a great sense of humour and radiated friendship wherever she went. We will love you forever, Suzy.

A Memorial Service will be held at McCall’s Funeral Home, Vancouver & Johnson Streets, on Monday, July 8th at 2:00 pm, with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Victoria Hospice or the SPCA. Condolences may be offered below.

It’s with great sadness to learn about Suzy’s passing. I was 16 in the winter of ’76 when my dear father Avo passed away in California . He always wished for us to know one another as sisters. Despite my search efforts for the past 20+ years, faith did not bring us together, somehow. I’m happy to know she was surrounded by so much love in her life.
Last year in 2013 on June 10th (only 20 days before Suzy’s passing) I also lost a dear friend at the age of 55 to cancer. She was like a sister to me. I often compensated for the sister I never knew in good friends. Helen was our maid of honor (my husband Nelson and I were married in 2000) and a constant source of inspiration and support. She was a brilliant engineer who worked on the International Space Station. But, like Suzy, Helen loved people, animals, art, travel, FUN and was super courageous at the end. Now I feel I’ve lost two sisters. I just know in my heart that they’ll look each other up.
I’ll always remember how happy Suzy made me feel when she sent pretty outfits from England to Tehran. I must have been 10-12. I still have her black and white photographs from Tehran and England and was hoping I could share it with her one day. There will always be a special place in my heart for Suzy. She’s with our beloved Dad Avo and Paddy now. They will be missed but not forgotten.

We were very saddened to hear of Suzy’s death. We got to know Suzy through Joe with whom Bill played many concerts and other gigs. We will greatly miss seeing her at these events.

We are very sad to hear of Suzy’s passing. We knew Suzy when we worked at Wescraft Mfg. Ltd. through her husband Albert. Suzy was a truly talented woman, and excelled in many fields. She will be greatly missed by us.
