Sylvia passed away peacefully at The Priory on February 5, 2012. After thirty-five years she was reunited with her husband on their fifty-seventh wedding anniversary. The younger daughter of Murdoch and Alberta Morrow, Sylvia was born in the family home at Glen Lake on September 4, 1927. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Michael in 1977 and son Peter in 2010 as well as her sister Margaret Howell and Michael’s siblings and spouses Peter Coleman, Dorothy and John Main, Norah Hardy and Frank Songhurst. She is survived by her daughter Trisha Turner, grand-daughters Ashley and Carmen Rogers, great-grandchildren Michelle and Cole as well as sister in-law and brother in-law Clare Songhurst and Ed Hardy and many nieces and nephews. After their marriage in 1955 Sylvia and Michael left for Prince George due to Michael’s employment with the PGE Railway. In 1959 they settled in Coquitlam and after a decade home raising her family she embarked on a rewarding career with the Coquitlam School District. As was echoed at her retirement she was “The Best School Secretary”. In 2003, after a forty-eight year absence, Sylvia returned to Victoria and enjoyed almost six years residing at The Victorian on McKenzie before declining health necessitated her moving into Care. Special thanks to Suzanne, Bobbie and all the caring staff at The Priory. No service by request. Private interment with Michael and Peter at Hatley Memorial Gardens, Victoria B.C.

    Dear Trisha and Family
I was so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. I also worked with Sylvia at Irvine and have many fond memories of her. Her hospitality was legendary…we spent several weekends with her at her trailer at Black Mountain Ranch and she was always so welcoming and ready for a chat and a laugh.
Several of the Irvine “old-timers” were together last week and we reminisced and laughed and told our stories of a lovely, warm, generous lady, who loved her family dearly. We know she will be missed.

    Dear Trisha,
I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of your mum. I remember her very well from my childhood on Harbour Drive…I was your neighbour, Hazel (and Harry) Sumner’s daughter, next door to the Supples, and a year or three older than you, and I remember your mother’s tremendous energy up and down those steps, her smile, and her friendliness, with us, and with Tom, Helen, and Stewart Supple. Her photos show she kept that great spirit all her life. You and your family are in my thoughts.

    Hi,

Condolences on the passing of your mom, I used to work with Sylvia many years ago at Irvine. I saw this obituary and smiled remembering Sylvia and all the fun and laughs I had working with her. Your mom was a great lady, lots of fun and I will always remember her with fondness. I laughed remembering when one time she lost her large diamond out of her ring and we were all down on hands and knees searching for it for a long time and after a couple of days to Sylvia’s relief we found it in the Kleenex box.

She really was the Best School Secretary, loved the kids always had time for them, and always had time for the staff. I sure she will be missed by you all as she always spoke of her family with great pride and love!

    Sincerely,
    Suzanne Campbell
