Sylvia May Ann Cummings, born in Plymouth, Devon, England on June 17, 1927, passed away peacefully August 11, 2016. As a young woman, Sylvia was recognized for her singing and performed on stage regularly and once sang with Julie Andrews. She married James (Jim) Cummings in 1946 and later immigrated to Edmonton, where Sylvia worked at Zellers and Jim served in the Edmonton City Police Force for 32 years. The couple moved to Victoria in their retirement. Sylvia loved to walk and thought nothing of walking downtown and back from their Oak Bay home. Jim, who passed away December 2003, enjoyed writing and painting, and was a recognized authority on budgie breeding. They will be sorely missed by their many dear friends, four children, nine grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.
