December 15, 1918 – July 8, 2013
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thelma on July 8, 2013. She was predeceased by her husband, James, in March, 1991 and leaves behind her loving family: son, Terrance; daughter-in-law, Joan; grandsons, Gordon and Scott; many nieces and nephews and other extended family members.
Thelma was a graduate of the Royal Jubilee Hospital’s Registered Nursing Program in 1941 and continued in that profession until the mid 1970’s. She was an active member of Miriam Temple #2 of the Daughters of the Nile and Ruth Chapter #22 (formerly Victoria Chapter #17) of the Order of the Eastern Star until age and ill health prevented her from attending meetings and functions.
The family would like to thank the staff of Mount Edwards Court Care Home for the loving care that Thelma received over the past few years; Home Instead Senior Care and, in particular, Lucille, for providing companionship during that same period of time.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013 at 1:00 pm in St. John the Divine Anglican Church, 1611 Quadra Street, Victoria, the Reverend Canon Karen Fast officiating, followed by interment at Royal Oak Burial Park. At Thelma’s request, donations can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children on her behalf, or to the Delta Chapter of the B.C. Special Olympics on behalf of her grandson, Scott. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Marge McGowan Dear Terrance (Terry) and family – we valued the friendship of Thelma and Jim during years of square dancing, home visits and time spent in their company at Shawnigan. Your Mom was a caring, outgoing and forthright person, it was a pleasure knowing her and we share your sorrow at her passing.
