It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Thelma Helliwell at Victoria General Hospital on December l, 2011 at 92 years. She is now with her Lord and Saviour.

Thelma was one of four daughters born to parents, Emily and David Dopp. On March 11, 1944 she married the love of her life, Reginald John Helliwell (Papa Reg) and was his wife for 56 years.

She will be lovingly remembered and so missed by her sister, Doreen Quaife (John); her three sons, Dave (Kathy), Don (Rhonda) and Doug (Maxine); her eight grandchildren, Craig, Corrie, Sarah, Claire, Jacob, Matthew, Correna and Jeremy; and ten great-grandchildren, Kayla, Bailey, Abbey, Jonah, Adrian, Emma, Sophie, Cameron, Brenton and Amaya, many nephews and nieces, a large extended family and numerous close friends.

Special thanks to niece Sandy Craddock (John) for her weekly visits and daily calls of encouragement.

In her earlier life, she was employed for many years as a seamstress at Standard Furniture and in later years a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She was affectionately known as “Gram” to all who had the good fortune to be a part of her life.

We would like to extend our thanks to Helen, Marj, Jojie, Sushila and Tess for the excellent homecare they provided over the years.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Hatley Memorial Gardens, 2050 Sooke Road, followed by a Memorial Service and reception at 1:00 pm at Central Baptist Church, 835 Pandora Street.
