It is with great sadness that the family of Theresa (Terry) Lalonde announce her passing on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the age of 93. Theresa will be deeply missed by her daughter, Alice, and grandchildren, Deanna, Shannon, Deborah, Christine and James. Theresa will also be forever remembered by her great grandchildren, Jordanne, Kaylin, Christian, Emily and Elliot and by daughter-in-law, Darlene as well as extended family and dear friends. Theresa was predeceased by her husband, Gerald (Jerry), son, Andrew, many siblings and granddaughter, Christine Johnston.
Theresa was born on November 1, 1924 in Osgoode, Ontario, sixth child of eleven children. She married her husband, Gerald, in 1946 and they lived together in Chatham, NB, Quebec and Germany before arriving at Comox and eventually retiring in the Comox Valley. She worked as a librarian and in a canteen at the Comox Air Base and together with her husband worked at the Comox Base Movie Theatre for many years as well as at their own fishing and tackle shop. Most may remember her vibrant personality and wonderful sense of humour from their many hours spent at the Comox Legion and Courtenay Elks Club, where she enjoyed playing darts, attending meat draws and playing games with friends. Theresa moved to Victoria to Mount St. Mary’s care home two years ago.
Mass of Christian Burial was held privately at St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Victoria on Tuesday, March 13, 2018.
Memorial donations in memory of Theresa may be made to Mount St. Mary Hospital, 861 Fairfield Road, Victoria BC, V8V 5A9 or to Christ the King Church in Courtenay.
