Vern passed away peacefully at Victoria General Hospital on May 25, 2013. He was born in Ottawa, Ontario on May 26,1923. Vern was predeceased by his first wife, Dagny and his son, Brian. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Roberta; son, Denny; daughters, Shirley (Gerry), Sharon (Chris), grandchildren, Gerrit, Allan, Samantha, Katie and great-grandchildren, Addison and Peyton; extended family Kenny (Brianna), Eddie (Pat), Diane, Beau, Ashley, Natalie and Kristie. Also left to mourn many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all family members and friends. Vern served in the Canadian Armed Forces in his earlier years which followed with a career as an electrician. He was a Lifetime Member for 62 years with the International Lions Club (Esquimalt Lions).
A Celebration of Life will be held at McCall’s Downtown, (Johnson & Vancouver Streets), at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2013. Flowers gratefully declined by request, donations may be made in Vern’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Condolences may be offered below.

Lynn Edmundson I have fond memories of Vern. We worked together for many years and remained friends. I am sad to hear of his passing. May he rest in peace.
I met Vern through his neice Diane Utendale many years ago and would see him occasionally around Victoria.
