Victor passed into the presence of his Lord on April 13, 2018. Victor was born in Altona, Manitoba on April 27, 1926 to Abraham and Katerina Goertzen, the older of two children. In 1945, he married the love of his life, Helen Bottrell. In 1973, Victor and Helen moved to Victoria, BC where Victor worked as an appraiser. They became deeply involved with the Victoria Gospel Chapel and enjoyed the fellowship of the Christians there and later at Oak Bay Gospel Assembly. Victor loved the Lord, his family, his garden and watching the birds and the wildlife.

Predeceased by his wife, Helen; his sister, Florence; his son-in-law, David; and his grandson, Daryl, Victor will be lovingly remembered by his three children, Bob (Bernice), Barbara (Bill) Ensom, and Brenda Vidal; his brother-in-law, Daniel; and his wife, Margaret; as well as seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews-in-law.

We are grateful to the staff of St. Charles Manor and also to Craigdarroch Care Home for their loving care over the past few years.

A Graveside Service will be held at Royal Oak Burial Park on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11:00 am, followed by a Celebration of Life and Tea at 2:30 in the Oak Bay Gospel Assembly, 1900 Oak Bay Avenue, Victoria, B.C.

    Brenda and Family,

Sorry to hear about your dad’s recent passing. Remembering his quiet spirit around Vic Chapel…always abounding in the work of the Lord. He was always ready to say “hello” when we were “home” for a visit–often asking when we were moving to Victoria. May you rest in the knowledge that he is truly with our Lord and Saviour.

    Brenda and Family,
We knew Victor just a little but from those short visits knew him to be a very fine man. He certainly had a wonderful family, and we are truly blessed with one grandson as a part of our family now, as a result. There will be sadness and joy as you acknowledge Victor’s passing. He had a rich and blessed life on earth, but not a patch on the life he has now.
    Love and prayers,
    David and Sally
