It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Violeta Magnaye, who left us peacefully on August 24, 2025, at St. Charles Manor in Victoria, BC, at the age of 82.

Born on May 17, 1943, in Bauan, Batangas, Philippines, she pursued her education with dedication and earned a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, majoring in accounting, from the University of Santo Tomas. In 1968, she courageously immigrated to Victoria, BC, on her own, where she built both a career and a life of meaning.

She began her professional journey in Canada with PriceWaterhouse, before joining the BC Provincial Government. Over several decades, she served in a variety of ministries as well as in the Office of the Auditor General. She retired at the age of 65, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and commitment.

Beyond her career, she embraced life with curiosity and joy. She was an active member of Toastmasters, where she honed her skills in communication and leadership. She also found happiness in yoga and ballet classes at the YMCA, which brought her balance and vitality throughout the years.

Her Catholic faith was a cornerstone of her life. She lived with devotion and grace, and her spiritual commitment guided her in all that she did.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her sisters Lourdes (Renato), Amor (Nitoy), Nona (Rhomie), and her brother Soliven (Arlene), as well as her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews across Canada, Australia, and the Philippines.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Andrew’s Cathedral, 740 View Street, Victoria, BC on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Royal Oak Burial Park, 4673 Falaise Drive, at 1:30 p.m. Family and friends are warmly invited to a reception at the Philippine Bayanihan Community Centre, 1709 Blanshard Street, from 2:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Charles Manor for their compassionate care in her final months.

She lived her life with courage, faith, and kindness. She will be forever cherished in our hearts.
