It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wallace Bailey. Wallace is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Lillian; their children: Mark (Raja), Bruce, Ian (Carol), James (Sandra) and Janet; 15 grandchildren: Ghislaine, Carmen, Nawel, Robert, Soraya, Jacqueline, Justin, Joel, Evan, Aimee, Kathryn, Harrison, Sophia, Michael and Grace; and 13 great-grandchildren: Rose, Zachariah, Chase, Asher, Annaka, Alexander, Freya, Lucas, Kessler, Silas, Aubrey, Clare and Linden.
Wallace was born in Nelson, BC and moved to Victoria at a young age, attending Happy Valley Elementary and Victoria High School from which he graduated in 1946. His working career was spent in the BC Forest Service followed by forestry consulting. He was proud to have introduced the first computer to the BC Government in the 1960’s. A man of many interests, Wallace was a voracious reader, studying history, science and genealogy.
Wallace was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying many camping, hiking and backpacking trips around British Columbia. He was also skilled at woodworking, and left behind many beautiful keepsakes for his family. He and Lillian enjoyed gardening and traveling the world visiting family.
He was keenly interested and involved in his growing family all his life, and was exceedingly proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of his Life will be held in late August in Victoria.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
