Wes passed away at home with family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by his father Hans Jantzen, mother Zita Jantzen and sister Darlene McDonald (Jantzen). Survived by his loving wife of 28 years Pam Schön and lovingly remembered by his children Lee Jantzen (Lindsey Schultz), Leslie Jantzen, Melissa Schön, Tyler Schön, grandson Dallan Cook, brother Darrell Jantzen (Debbie) and nieces and nephews in Victoria as well as in Edmonton. Wes will also be sadly missed by his business partner John Haynes.

Wes was born in Edmonton, AB growing up with family and great lifelong friends. He moved to Victoria, BC when he was 23 years old and pursued his career as a paint store owner and later a painter. Wes will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know him. He unselfishly donated many years running the Strathcona Dart League and Strawberry Vale Fastball Association along side with his wife. Helping people was a passion of his and he helped many over the years.

A celebration of life to be determined at a later date.  Shared memories and condolences may be offered to the family below.

Wes and I have been “best buddies” since we were 3 years old through most of our lives and through frequent phone calls. He called me 4 months ago to give me a “heads up”. Anybody, please contact me, I am crushed and broken hearted.

Wes will be sorely missed and our hearts are full of sadness at the news of his passing. Wes was one of the nicest, kindest and caring men I’ve ever met and we will never forget him. Dave and I were fortunate to have known Wes since 2000 when we played on a dart team with Pam and himself for five years as running champs for all five of those years on the Strathcona Dart League, lots of good times and fun memories from those years. Over the last two decades, on most mornings, Wes has filled my email inbox with all kinds of funny jokes and photos and my inbox will be never be the same again. Our hearts go out to Pam, Tyler, Melissa, all of Wes’ children as well as all of his family and friends. Another one of the good ones gone, may he forever rest in peace. Pam, may your many years of loving and cherished memories the two of you made together carry you through the pain and help heal your heart. As previously relayed to you please do not hesitate to let us know if there is anything we can do to help in any way.

The world has lost a wonderful man, Wes was definitely one of the good ones. He was caring, funny, loved his family and always willing to help. I am so grateful for all the support he gave over the years to Sage, Tessa and I. He painted every house I lived in and of course was meticulous! I remember driving his truck one day and the country music was cranked! I will miss you Wes, love you so much. I will see you again dancing on streets of gold, to country music of course! xxoo

Pam and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Uncle Wes was such a great person, and I will always remember and miss him dearly. Uncle Wes was a kind and generous man who touched many lives, with Uncle Wes you always knew exactly where you stood, and I loved that about him. I have so many memories, but the best were when we were together. The more time we spend together, the stronger our hearts became. When ever I would see Uncle, we would laugh and joke around, he always made me smile. Please know I am always here for all of you if you need anything.

My condolences to Pam and family. Very sad news of the loss of a great friend and person. I first got to know Wes when his family moved to the rural area of Edmonton in the early 60’s. Wes and I became friends while attending elementary school and remained close friends over the years. Wes always lived life to the fullest, always giving back to community, someone you could count on and someone I’ve been honored to know. Many great memories of our time together. You will be missed my friend.
