It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear father, grandfather, and great grandfather on the 4th January 2016 at the age of 93. William (Bill ) Agnew was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland on the 27th December 1922. He was predeceased by his loving wife Alice in 1995. He served in the RAF as an aircraft mechanic during the Second World War in both Egypt and Palestine, following in the footsteps of his father who was wounded fighting in the army in France during the First World War.
After the War, he joined English Electric and subsequently moved to Scottish Aviation where he had a distinguished career culminating in his appointment as Production Director for the aircraft factory when it was independent and after it was taken over by British Aerospace. His love of aeroplanes large and small and the RAF lasted all his life and he attended many air shows and air museums. He also had the good fortune to fly around Mount Everest with his son Andy on a day of clear blue skies.
He will be sadly missed by his family in Canada: his daughter Joan and son-in-law Norman, his granddaughters and families; Caroline ( granddaughter), Rob, Carly and Jacob; Lorraine ( granddaughter), Dan, Stephanie, Ashley; and Yvonne ( granddaughter), Savanna and Kieran.
He will also be missed by his son Andy, wife Mary and granddaughter Rachel in England, and grandson Paul in Tenerife; grandchildren Kevin and Gayle, their mother Linda, and Gayle’s daughter Sophie in Scotland. His nieces and nephews in Scotland, England and Australia will also miss his phone calls and letters.
Our family would like to thank all the staff at Berwick House on Shelbourne Street and the Kiwanis Pavilion for the care, understanding and kindness that they showed to our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather over the last few years.
Rest in peace Dad with our loving mother Alice. Your love and guidance will be missed by all.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Eve Russell So sad to hear of Uncle Bills passing. I have lots of wonderful memories as did my Mum & Dad of times visiting Uncle Bill & Aunty Alice in Scotland and Canada and their visit to Australia. Even though distance kept us apart physically contact was only a letter, a phone call or a flight away. On behalf of our Australian family I would like to send our love and deepest sympathy to Joan & Norman, Andy & Mary and all their respected families at the loss of their Dad, Granddad and Great Granddad. He will be sadly missed.
