Jerry passed away at home in his sleep. He leaves behind Rina and their children Brenda (Max) and Ron, grandsons Will and Ben, as well as his siblings Eunice (Melvin RIP), Omer (Charlene), Armand (Julia), Lucille, Marina (Donnie RIP), and Lester (Doris), and many extended family members. He previously lost his parents Ralph and Alice, and his brother Roger.
Jerry grew up on his family’s farm near Tignish, PEI. His attachment to his roots never wavered, despite living across Canada. His career as a Construction Accountant with Imperial Oil/Esso spanned over 30 years. He was a Registered Industrial Accountant and a Certified Management Accountant. His work saw him and his family relocate often, from Don Mills to Scarborough, Sarnia, Dartmouth, Willowdale, Edmonton, and finally, Calgary. After retiring, he operated a handyman business for 20 years. He moved to Victoria in 2014.
Jerry was an avid volunteer. In Calgary, he spent 20 years providing palliative care including portering, vehicle outings, and companionship; he also built wheelchair ramps, handrails, and other mobility aids. In Victoria, he provided palliative support and portering at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital, and he was a Steward at St. Andrew’s Cathedral.
Jerry enjoyed being busy. He had a quick wit. He never asked for favours, yet he always stepped up to help others. He lived modestly and did his best to be healthy and active.
Jerry’s Funeral Mass will be held at St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Victoria on Tuesday, September 9th, 2025, at 10:00 am. His remains will be interred at St. Simon & St. Jude Church in Tignish, PEI.
For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Donald Simons My heart felt condolences. While I never knew Jerry I can see his kindness and willingness to help others through his son Ron.
Jerry must have been a very good parent and grandparent.
Hopefully kind thoughts and humorous, loving moments fill your thoughts when you think of Jerry.

Our deepest sympathies to Rina, Brenda, Ron, and families. Jerry was special to our family and we are forever thankful for the support and friendship he and Rina shared with us. Always willing to lend a hand and offer his tools and knowledge. He and Rina spent many an evening babysitting our baby twins while Shannon and I enjoyed a much needed evening out. The kids would wake up in the morning and ask for Jerry and Rina. When we told them they went home they would both burst into tears. Fun memories. Jerry was a role model for us all. Honest as the day is long, as humble as the come, and giving of his talent and time. We know he has been welcomed home and is likely already fixing the pearly gates. Peace be with you, Rina, and your family.
