January 21, l920 – February 12, 2011

William Joseph (Bill) McAuley died peacefully at Mount St. Mary Hospital, Victoria, BC on February 12, 2011 after a long illness. Predeceased by wife Lois, in l962, he is survived by Mary, his loving wife of forty-two years and by two children, Carol Greaves and Michael McAuley (Corrie Coe) and by his sister, Catherine in Ottawa, Ontario. Also survived by three granddaughters, Allison, Elizabeth and Madeleine and by his great-granddaughter, Grace. Papa will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. A true gentleman, he was a warm and generous friend and loved life, dogs, a good story and a drink of scotch.

Prayers will be offered in McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, Johnson & Vancouver St. on Wednesday, February 16th at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint Patrick’s Church, 2060 Haultain St., on Thursday, February 17th at 12:10 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Mount St. Mary Hospital, 861 Fairfield Road, Victoria, BC, V8V 5A9. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallbros.com.

    Not sure if you remember me-Jack and Mary Mann’s daughter from Shelbourne Street. So sad to hear about Bill’s passing-I hope he will find mom and dad to have some laughs. What a fine and loving man he was-I will always remember his big smiles!!! You both were such great neighbours and made our transition to Victoria so easy. Take care
