Alan passed away suddenly on August 23, 2021 at RJH in Victoria. He was born May 25,1947 in Glasgow. Predeceased by his sons Alan and Barry; he will be deeply missed by his wife Julia; his daughters Julie (Keith), Brigitte (Jon) and Toni (Steve); 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; his 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

As a young boy he moved from Glasgow to Newhaven in the south of England where he finished his schooling and loved being involved in sports like running and boxing. It was here where he raised his 5 children and met the love of his life Julia. In 1996 they immigrated to Canada where they opened Chef on the Run in Sidney, BC. This past June they celebrated 40 wonderful years of marriage together. During this time, they loved to travel the world and spend time with their extensive family. Alan was always known for being sociable, extremely kind and someone who genuinely cared for those around him. A truly legendary man!

A Memorial Service will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 10:00 am, followed by the burial at Royal Oak Burial Park.

  3. A wonderful man has been lost and will be terribly missed. I will never forget that, every day I went to work Al would greet me with his winning smile. He always had kind words and showed concern for others. I will think of Al and his family often and I am truly saddened for your loss.

  7. Such an amazing man, His happiness was infectious to be around and I have so many good memories with Al. They say friends are the family you choose for yourself and Al as well as Ju and Toni have always been family to me. Al is going to be greatly missed by many and I hope he’s up there with my Grandad having a laugh and drink together.
