Barry moved to Victoria, BC to take up a new life with Edna where they were married on Edna’s birthday August 12, 2011. Barry left this world with nothing unsaid and knowing that he lived an exciting life, full of adventure and love, a life truly blessed by the Grace of God. He often said we should be as lucky and as fortunate as he.
Barry wishes to thank family, co-workers and friends for the many meaningful tributes paid during his illness.
One common thread in these tributes, his apparent love for Edna and the happiness she brought to his life. Our thanks to Dr. Franco and his cardiac team for giving Barry and I more time to enjoy. Thank you also to Dr. J. Aiken, all hospice and BC Cancer Agency nurses and doctors, Saanich Community Nurses and staff. Thank you.

To the Traynor family – I met Barry in Sydney NS when he arrived after training in Regina. Our paths crossed again in Ottawa as we lived in Queenswood Heights in the 70’s and thru work at CSIS in the 1980’s. Barry always had a kind word. My sincere condolences to all. Dick Greene
Daryl, Mike, Andrew and Janelle, My thoughts are with you all during this challenging time. We have all known each other for a very long time back to Prestwick days and block parties and your Dad was always such a great guy…I was always happy to see him through the years. Hugs to you all.
I worked with Barrie in Saskatoon – lots of interesting times. Caught up with later in HQ and Queenswood Heights. Rest in Peace
Barry was a great guy and a knowledgeable trainer. When things got tough you could always count on him to lighten your load with his humour. His smile lit up the workplace. This was the case for students and staff alike.
To his family and many friends–he will be greatly missed!
Barry was a great guy, full of laughter and good humour. A very good trainer who left an impression with all of his students and a colleague with whom it was a pleasure to work. I was saddened to learn of his illness and my prayers are with his family

I met Barry when we were fellow members of the Kinsmen Club of Orleans. Barry was a good friend to me, always helpful, sporting a cheerful smile, and making my year as President a lot easier. And, he was the only person I knew whose favorite beer was Labatt 50! My deepest condolences for your loss.
The entire Traynor family, I was so sad at Barry’s passing. I met Barry at work in 1975 and have enjoyed his wit and humour for 46 years. Edna, I really enjoyed meeting and talking with you when you’d come to Ottawa and the old training gang would get together. We’ll miss is happy face at the table. Many fond memories and lots of laughs.
Barry was an excellent training officer who made each candidate welcome, was generous in sharing his personal experience & wisdom and worked hard to prepare young intelligence officers for success. His sense of humour was legend, and his goodness was ever-present and unconditional. He served Canada with distinction & effect and his legacy includes the hundreds of police officers / intelligence officers who were fortunate to learn from him, and who went on to serve & protect our country… Rest In Peace, Barry… You will be missed, my friend…
Condolences to Barry’s family, sorry for your loss.
