In Loving Memory of Beverly Koffel
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Bev, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend, at the age of 80.
Bev was known and loved by many throughout her life, but perhaps nowhere more so than at the Deep Cove Chalet restaurant she proudly presided over for many decades.
Together with Pierre, she helped create not only an exceptional dining destination, but also a place where guests felt genuinely welcomed, valued, and cared for. Her warmth, elegance, and gift for hospitality became the heart and soul of the Chalet.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Bev was a woman of extraordinary kindness and generosity. She possessed a rare ability to make everyone feel like family. Whether through a thoughtful gesture, a listening ear, a warm smile, or quiet acts of service, she enriched countless lives.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in the countless memories she created and the enduring impact she made on all who knew her. Her grace, generosity, and unwavering spirit will live on in the lives she touched.
She leaves behind her beloved husband Pierre, her children Carson and Krista and her grandchildren who she loved dearly. Her siblings, extended family, and a wide circle of dear friends will miss her deeply; as will her loyal companion Victor.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to everyone who shared in Bev’s life and friendship over the years. Her memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Deep Cove Chalet, 11190 Chalet Road, North Saanich, BC, on Sunday, October 18th, 2026, from 12:00 – 5:00pm.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Dear Pierre, Carson, Krista and family,
Michel will cherish his memories of chatting with Bev and keeping her company at closing time while waiting for the last clients to leave.
We loved chatting with her anytime we came to the Chalet. If she had time she would have us admire her garden. She was a wonderful person and will be missed.
Sincere condolences.

Dear Pierre and all your Family,
We are so saddened to learn of Bev’s passing. She was truly a centrepiece of love and caring and by your side she played a leading role in your family, community and far beyond. It was obvious from the time of our first trip to Victoria when our family visit was highlighted with personalized menus at The Chalet, love and charm have always been at the forefront. She made everyone feel that they belong. There is no way to think of Bev without thinking of the two of you together.
You are in our thoughts and prayers and will be especially so when you celebrate her life and your time together on October 18th.
Love,
Pat & John Winship
Dearest old friend Pierre
We are so saddened to hear of the passing of Bev. She was the perfect foil for all your antics. Your loving partnership was truly an inspiration to us all.
She will be sorely missed by everyone who ever crossed the threshold to be greeted by her. Thank you both for the years we were able to share your greatest moments together. I will never forget the night she sent me home in a pair of her tights when I fell into the ocean after dinner attempting to rescue a dog. I still have them

We send our condolences on your loss to all those at the Chalet and especially to Pierre. She will be missed by so many. We were just customers, but we felt like family with Bev’s hospitality and generosity. She made us feel so special.
MAGICAL BEV
There you were . . . beautiful, poised, confident, carrying a shiny silver tray, balancing two chilled glasses of champagne, walking down to the beach to greet us. You always wore your adoring heart on the outside making people feel extra special. You showed us all how it’s really done. We shall always celebrate you for your kindness, your many talents, oh the flowers, and your constant smile that touched the hearts of all of us. How privileged we are to have had you in our lives. You’ve left this World a more delightful place.
With Love and Peace,
Suzanne & Rob Fleming
Dear Pierre, please accept my deepest and very sad feelings about losing the best woman ever. I am so sorry she is lost. You were a fortunate person to team up with her for so long. I seem to have known her forever…we were even good friends way back in the same homeroom at Oak Bay High! She was so talented in everything she did at the Chalet from greeting everyone with such warm welcome to the many things she did with her artistic talents. I will miss her always. Big hugs to you Pierre. Lots of love, Pat. XOXO
