Brian Holker was born on February 27, 1945. After battling with a respiratory ailment for several months, Brian passed away on the morning of December 23, 2020 peacefully in the comfort of his home overlooking Cadboro Bay. A home Brian had built on a property originally owned by his grandparents in the neighbourhood where he had spent the majority of his life.
Predeceased by his father Lou, mother June and brother Daryl. He is survived by his loving partner of 40 years, Diane Cameron; her daughters Cheryl and Kelly; his daughters Jacquelyn and Jeannine and their children Chai, Maeve, Matsya and Dala. Brian was an avid classic car guy. His collection and knowledge were well known and respected in the trade and his passion for restorations and impeccable attention to detail led to being invited to adjudicate and opine on many vintage autos. An original “Cadboro Bay Boy”. Brian will be missed by his many friends and acquaintances.
Moe i ka maluhia. Rest in Peace.

What wonderful tributes to a gruff but tender man; the oxymoron dichotomy we all came to love about our Brian

Forever “pookie” to Brian
Dear Diane, Kelly and family:
Ross and I are truly sorry for your loss. As we all know, it takes time to heal the loss of our dearly departed. Brian was a fun guy who had a great passion for cars, and we always enjoyed seeing him proudly displaying his treasures at the car shows. He truly was one of a kind.

Dear Diane
I am so very sorry to hear of Brian’s passing, I only found out last evening. John called to tell me and this evening I watched the service on-line. I have so many memories of you both as our neighbors when we lived across from you on Majestic Drive. He was a great guy and will be really missed by all his friends. Take care of yourself Diane. My sincere sympathies to you and the family.

Dear Gail,
You don’t know me but I was a friend of Brian’s from 1970 to 1972. Brian was a lovely
person and I send you my condolences to you and your family.
I remember driving his 58 Chevy around town. Such a long time ago.
All the best to you in this very sad time.
Hello,
Just heard about Brian’s passing from a fellow car club member. I remember the first time meeting Brian when he pulled up behind our car with his 32 Chevrolet Roadster. It was a friendship from that point forward. I think of him often and will always think of the great friendship we had even if we only got to see each other once every few years.
Friends always!

Diane, I am so sorry to hear of Brian’s passing. As one of the “Bay Boys” as Chris so aptly puts it, he was well known and much liked, a real fixture in the Village and at the gas station. Last time I saw him was at the Cadboro Bay Kids reunion at the pub. I’m sorry that we were never able to organize another one, as I know he enjoyed that so much. He was kind and friendly and so knowledgeable about cars.
You and Brian were so fortunate to have each other, and he was especially fortunate to have you at his side caring for him.
Kind regards, Bryony (Gonder) Graham
Dear Diane and family,
My sincere condolences to you on this sad day. I really liked Brian and will miss him dearly. That said Diane, you really shone as a life partner through his final months, letting no detail for his care left unattended to. You were his love, his advocate and his champion through life. Blessings to you and your family as you face the transition to life on your own
