October 5, 1957 - July 11, 2022

Cindy Lee Brar was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world suddenly on July 11, 2022.

Born to Jean and Gerald Fullerton on October 5, 1957 in Trail, BC. After graduating high school, Cindy moved to Victoria to attend university and a short two years later met Dave. Her and Dave married in 1983 and together had two children: Kirsten and Paige.

Cindy was an incredibly loving and caring person. She loved to welcome people into her home for meals and games, cards, mahjong, dice and more. You could always find Cindy speed reading a good book and she was a quiet poet and artist. Cindy loved a good adventure, traveling and exploring with Dave and friends. She was an avid golfer and curler, enjoying playing both but she really loved the community aspect of the games. She was always getting involved in tournaments, all the social events, and serving on the various boards and committees.

Cindy was a fabulous student, completing numerous degrees and certificates. She was passionate about all kinds of education and a lifelong learner. Cindy was always looking at what she could learn next, a new skill was never far outside of her reach. She began working at Royal Roads on the project team to establish the University and later served on the board of governors. After 25 years of working at RRU she retired in 2020 but her love of the university kept her coming back and she continued to work at RRU until this June.

She will be greatly missed by the love of her life for over 45 years, Dave, her two daughters, Kirsten (Basit) and Paige (Jamie), her grandchildren, Jameel, Jasir and Quinn, her sisters, Jeri (Ty) and Gail (Lori), her in-laws (Karen, Tom, Nancy and Pinder), her many nieces and nephews, and her friends who she loved like family. Cindy is predeceased by her parents, Jean and Gerald, sister Debbie and brother Russel.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at 2:00 pm, at Royal Roads University in the Gardens, 2005 Sooke Rd, Victoria, BC.

A scholarship will be set up in Cindy’s name and donations can be made towards the award through Royal Roads, www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/m/73932

My deepest condolences to all of Cindy’s family.

When I went to work at CLEU I met two people right away. Cindy Brar and Judy Durrance.
    We all became friends.

Cindy was my supervisor. She was very kind to me and had a great sense of humor.
We had many laughs working together.

Over the years I have visited the home of Judy and Doug Durrance for various get together and Cindy and Dave would be there. We had many laughs and great fun together.

I considered Cindy a good friend and will miss her laugh and smile.

  2. When we visited Victoria in December 2021, Cindy opened her house to invite us. Though we had heard about each other but had never met. Some people leave a lasting impression within the first few minutes of interaction. We had delicious food and more importantly, wonderful three-hour interaction with Cindy, Dave, and the rest of the family. Who knew that this would be our first and the last meeting with Cindy! She was caring, involved, and kind of a person who goes the extra mile. We can’t express our shock and disbelief on Cindy’s untimely passing. May God give strength to Dave and the rest of the family to bear this huge loss. Our heartfelt condolences. Om Shanti.

  3. I was so saddened and shocked to hear of Cindy’s passing while I’m on travel/research in Europe. Cindy was an enormously kind person who helped me in so many ways over 13 years at Royal Roads and she always had good answers to difficult questions. She made time for everyone and was very thoughtful and kind in her actions, always wanting the best out of people and giving her best in return.
My condolences to her family, Dave, Kirsten, Paige, and all extended family. Take comfort in the great memories you and others have of her and her life.

  5. I will truly miss the interactions I’ve had over the years with Cindy at the curling rink.

    JUST A WONDERFUL HUMAN BEING!!!!!

  6. Deepest condolences to Dave and the entire Brar family. The shock, disbelief, and sense of loss at Cindy’s sudden passing has been immense. Cindy’s blend of so many special qualities and abilities made her a very unique and exceptional person. Enthusiastic, witty, principled, and a person of strong conviction, her willingness to speak truth to power was legendary. So too was her willingness to help others, her kindness and generosity, her sense of humour, and her disdain for pomposity. Never without a laugh or a smile and a positive word, she will be remembered as a special colleague and friend.

  7. Sending your family my condolences and big love for such a heartbreaking loss. I feel lucky to have met Cindy and see her so recently at Christina Lake.
