October 5, 1957 - July 11, 2022

Cindy Lee Brar was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world suddenly on July 11, 2022.

Born to Jean and Gerald Fullerton on October 5, 1957 in Trail, BC. After graduating high school, Cindy moved to Victoria to attend university and a short two years later met Dave. Her and Dave married in 1983 and together had two children: Kirsten and Paige.

Cindy was an incredibly loving and caring person. She loved to welcome people into her home for meals and games, cards, mahjong, dice and more. You could always find Cindy speed reading a good book and she was a quiet poet and artist. Cindy loved a good adventure, traveling and exploring with Dave and friends. She was an avid golfer and curler, enjoying playing both but she really loved the community aspect of the games. She was always getting involved in tournaments, all the social events, and serving on the various boards and committees.

Cindy was a fabulous student, completing numerous degrees and certificates. She was passionate about all kinds of education and a lifelong learner. Cindy was always looking at what she could learn next, a new skill was never far outside of her reach. She began working at Royal Roads on the project team to establish the University and later served on the board of governors. After 25 years of working at RRU she retired in 2020 but her love of the university kept her coming back and she continued to work at RRU until this June.

She will be greatly missed by the love of her life for over 45 years, Dave, her two daughters, Kirsten (Basit) and Paige (Jamie), her grandchildren, Jameel, Jasir and Quinn, her sisters, Jeri (Ty) and Gail (Lori), her in-laws (Karen, Tom, Nancy and Pinder), her many nieces and nephews, and her friends who she loved like family. Cindy is predeceased by her parents, Jean and Gerald, sister Debbie and brother Russel.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at 2:00 pm, at Royal Roads University in the Gardens, 2005 Sooke Rd, Victoria, BC.

A scholarship will be set up in Cindy’s name and donations can be made towards the award through Royal Roads, www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/m/73932

  2. Dave, Kirsten and Paige,
Sending you my deepest condolences on the sudden loss of Cindy. I have such fond memories of your family living behind the Traverses (my second home) during our school years. Cindy’s smile and zest for life was infectious. As we “kids” grew up, I always enjoyed the milestone events (mostly Nicole’s) where I got the opportunity to catch up with Cindy. Sending your family peace and strength.

  3. It was a true pleasure to work for/with Cindy. She was one of the “Cindys” that you knew you could go to when you had any question about the university because her knowledge was extensive. She will be missed for what she contributed to the university and also for her support and kindness. I remember talking to her on her last day at RRU and am deeply saddened by her death. My love goes out to her family at this difficult time.

  4. My deepest condolences for your loss. I knew Cindy from RRU since my early days at the university and in all the time I knew her, she was a firecracker, full of positive energy and life. When I think of RRU, Cindy is one of the people I think of as a foundation who will always be part of the university. My thoughts are with you.

  5. Dear Dave and Family

I was deeply saddened and shocked by Cindy’s sudden passing. We had recently re-connected this past April after 47 years, and our few hours together were very special. We were childhood friends, but had such a strong sense of joy & laughter during our brief visit. She was so kind, giving, smart and full of love & Joy.

My deepest condolences to you Dave and family. Sending love & compassion in this difficult time.

  7. Hi Dave:

Hearing of Cindy’s sudden passing came as a shock. She was such a positive person, on and off the ice — even if things got challenging. It was a pleasure to work her on the JDF curling board.

Deepest condolences to you, Kirsten and Paige.

    Regards, Doug

  9. Dave, our deepest condolences and sympathy to you and your family. We were shocked and truly saddened to hear of Cindy’s sudden passing. We had such great times with you and Cindy when we were at UVIC in the early 80’s. Our favourite phone call of the month was when you guys called to invite us over for dinner and Cindy was making her fabulous curry dishes!! We have many fond memories of those days hanging out with you and Cindy. She was super positive, lots of fun to be with and will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to get to know her.
    Peter & Jane
