Colin Grant

Passed away suddenly on October 29, 2011 at 54 years of age. Colin was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia on December 10, 1956. He was predeceased by his father, Louis Grant and is lovingly remembered by his wife of 28 years, Sylvia; daughter, Gizelle; son, Cale; mother, Anne Grant; sisters, Anne-Marie (Joe) Durant, Louise (Arnold) Van Heighten and Janet (Jerome) MacPherson; brothers, Danny (Sharon), Billy (Bernadette) and John (Donna); and many close friends and colleagues.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Sunday, November 6, 2011 from 3:00 pm to 8:30 pm, and Monday, November 7, 2011 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at ST. ANDREW’S CATHEDRAL, Blanshard at View Streets on Monday, November 7, 2011 at 12:10 pm.

The family would like to express their most sincere appreciation to the crew and command of the HMCS Vancouver, 443 (MH) Squadron and many friends and family who have provided their help and support.

    Carolyn and I are ever so sorry. The loss of Colin has weighed heavily on our hearts. We know that there are no words that can be said that will lessen the pain and loss that you are feeling.
    Celebrate his life for it was a grand life filled with pride for his family and great love for you. He was a kind and gentle man with a heart of gold.
    You are a wonderful person Sylvia, take time to heal, take time for you, Colin would have it no other way.

  3. Sylvia, my prayers are with you and your family at this most difficult time. Colin touched the hearts of everyone he came accross. He was a very happy and outgoing person and enjoyed life to the fullest. He is going to be missed by many people. God Bless….

    A shock to hear and just viewed the news only today. Very sorry to hear about the accident. I worked with Colin in Comox and we had many laughs and great times. Just an awesome guy and a true professional. I am often asked why I stayed in the military for 25 years. A very simple answer – it was the people I met along the way. Colin was most certainly one of those and made the CAF that very special place to call home. A tragic loss on all fronts.

    It is with my deepest symapthies to you and your family from all of us at 12 Air Maintenance Sqn in Shearwater I send this to you in the most difficult of times. From a personel point I have known you and Colin for many years as you served Canada so well and know he will be missed by many in the RCAF. Colins spirit for life and sence of duty are traits I am sure all your family admired and you will keep most treasured.
