Dear Sally, Holly, Rachel and family,
Both Micky and I were deeply saddened to hear of Dave’s sudden passing at such a young age. He was a wonderful person who exhumed quiet confidence, a respect of others, and was a loyal friend to those he knew. Micky and I extend our most heartfelt condolences for your loss and hope that the sorrow of his passing will in time be replaced by the cherished memories of the love you shared together.

I never had the pleasure of serving with Dave, but I was well aware of his reputation as a fine gunner officer, a great leader, and a gentleman in all respects. A very sad loss. My deepest condolences to Sally and the children.
A truly professional soldier with a talent for instructing and mentoring young officers and NCOs. A perfect example of dedicated service to his country.
Sally
I did not know Dave well while he was serving but got to know him during his time with Calian. He was quietly competent, willing to help at any time, dedication and an excellent leader. I will always value the occasions that we worked together and will continue to admire his ability and the way he lived all facets of his life. I will alwys remember him for his kindness. Ny heartfelt condolences to you and your family.
Dave
That Infectious smile is unforgettable to say the least. My condolences go out to all Dave’s family and friends. I knew Dave when he was CO 2RCHA while I was a Dragoon, and later at Calian. The calmest guy I ever met, great sense of humour, and a common sense approach. Dave will be sadly missed by all whom he ever made contact with. Rest Well my friend and find us a place in the higher hide! We won’t be far behind! RESPECT!
Dear Sally and family,
My sincere condolences over the unexpected passing of Dave. This very sad news has had a profound effect across the Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery, and many of us who knew Dave well join you in remembering such a great officer and friend who impacted many of our lives. As a young subaltern in 2 RCHA I first met Dave when he was the Battery Commander of E Battery (para), where he became a great mentor and role model to all Junior Officers in the regiment and not just to those in this battery. He led from the front with his calm, confident, and relaxed leadership style, turning every possible opportunity into a teaching moment for those around him. We have truly lost one of the best from our era and he will be sadly missed. End of mission.
Ubique.

I had the opportunity to meet Dave while on Calian contracts. A great sense of wry humour and always a pleasure to chat with. Truly a sad loss. My deepest condolences to you all.
To Sally and family, my sincere condolences on hearing of Dave’s passing. Dave was CO 2 RCHA (1992-94) and I was his Operations Officer. He was an absolute prince of a man and a true delight to work for. I learned a lot from him and admired his logical, sensible and calm approach to all matters. His incomparable ability when it came to wood working was highly evident during Exercise RV 89 in Wainwright, Alberta: he was the regiment’s expert on fashioning walking sticks from diamond willow tree branches which abounded near our bivouac there.
