Dave was born in Penticton, BC in 1956. He grew up there and in Sidney, BC. He attended Carmi School, North Saanich High School, Canadian Union College, and British Columbia Institute of Technology. In 1973, the family moved to Edmonton where Dave worked in drafting. Much of his work can still be seen in many buildings in Edmonton and northern Alberta. Dave loved the Island and returned to Sidney in 1992. He was a fixture in and around Sidney and his many friends there will miss his kind heartedness, sense of humor, and generosity.
Dave was predeceased by his father, David; his mother, Freda, as well as his grandparents and many aunts and uncles. He will be very much missed and admired by his Sister Linda Scott, Brother Des Scott, his Aunt Edith Carlson, and many cousins.
Interment will be held at Royal Oak Burial Park.

I would like to share my condolences to Davids family, sister Linda and brother Des and Aunt Edith…David lived a very healthy and happy life here for many yrs…His true friendship shined here on the island throughout his life, with his smile and jokes ..He enjoyed the ocean, his pets, and it was my pleasure to have known him for many yrs…enjoying a cup of tea, or a bowl of soup…or just to say Good-morning…as we rode our bikes …his happy nature, and lust for life will always be in our hearts.. His spirit will be with us here always…..Sincercly Theresa and Alex

I had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful man while serving him a bowl of soup, four years ago at St Andrew’s Church in Sidney. Dave attended the neighbourhood soup social most Wednesday and I always knew he was there due to his bike parked outside the entrance . He always had a big smile and a great sense of humour. Dave was such a thoughtful, caring and giving person. He was always helping someone solve a problem. I had great pleasure outfitting him with some warm clothing one Christmas when he was going home to his family. Much to his protest! Dave was a “gentle” man with a great soul and I feel truly blessed to have met him. Heaven got a wonderful treasure. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family and many friends. I miss your sunny face .
I would like to express my deepest sympathies to Dave’s family on behalf of my family and especially my father Eric. My father lived in the trailer park for 10 years with Dave as a neighbour. For the past several years Dave was a dear friend to Eric, with regular chat visits in the morning as dad ate breakfast, picking up groceries on his way home from work when dad was running out of things, fixing leaks in his trailer… the list goes on.
For dad’s birthday, Dave ordered a special watch for dad as a present – one that had a spitfire on the face. Dad was a spitfire pilot in the war, and he tossed all his watches to wear this special gift.
Even after dad recently moved to a retirement home a short distance away, Dave continued to bring him cinnamon buns weekly because dad loved them so much. Even still.. I won’t forgive Dave for giving dad a computer when he was hankering for one – fortunately for me they never got it fully setup
Dave was a wonderful soul whom I felt a privilege to know and we are all so saddened by this loss.
Very sorry to hear about your brother Des. Deepest condolences.
Sorry to hear about your loss. I pray that may Lord rest his soul in eternal peace.
May Lord give you and your family the strength in this difficult time.
Amen
