Paulos – Dino Sam was taken from us unexpectedly on April 24, 2012, in Victoria, BC. He was born a Spartan December 2, 1945, in Molai, Greece.
Dino immigrated to Canada with his parents at the age of 14 and settled in Winnipeg, where he attended high school and university. Dino received his first degree in biology from the University of Manitoba and subsequently graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry in 1974. After practicing in Winnipeg for a short time, he moved to Victoria and established his practice in Sidney in 1977. Dino practiced dentistry in Victoria for the rest of his days, evolving into one of the world’s foremost authorities in the area of biological dentistry. He was very passionate about his work and helped countless people from all over the world restore their health and well-being. Dino did everything in life with extreme enthusiasm and vigor, whether it was cooking in his wood burning oven or scavenging driftwood on a remote beach. Driftwood came to life in his hands and imagination. A hobby that started with a small mirror blossomed into life-sized works of mythological creatures.
Dino was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and friend, and is so loved by so many. Dino walked amongst us. His presence will be missed yet the love and joy he brought will live on forever in us all.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, April 30th at 11:00 am at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Savior, 4648 Elk Lake Drive in Victoria with reception to follow.
Condolences for the family may be offered below.

I feel so sad that Dino has passed. But I feel so blessed that I was able to know this beautiful soul. He helped me get healthy when I was at a very low point with his exceptional abilities. I will always be grateful for his dentistry, but best of all I will always remember his wonderful smile, his genuine caring and his hugs. He truly was a wonderful human being. He will be missed.
Dejais and family my sincerest condolences. May each day bring you healing and joy in remembering Dino.
With love Lesley
Dear Cousins,
Our hearts are filled with sadness with the loss of Dino. His smile would light up a room and his laughter was contagious.
God Bless you all during this very sad time.
Our deepest – deepest sympathy to you . MAY HIS MEMORY BE ETERNAL… John & Polly Ginakes and families…
I first met my cousin Dino in 1952 in greece, he was 7 years old and an absolute delight. You could tell even then he was destined to make an impact on others with his personality and quick wit. I was not at all surprised to watch him succeed professionally and also to follow his own path in life that often varied from others. It was this and so many other wonderful qualities that set him apart from the rest.. I’ll miss you Dino–God Bless You—Demo.
Dino, we have known you and been friends for more than 40 years. I took a course at U of M in Astronomy and I don’t think I would have passed it if it were not for your help. We studied together at our kitchen table then we would have supper with my family and talk. You were part of our family and we miss you.
We are also fond of the memories we shared at Sydney long long time ago and our recent visit to your beautiful house in Victoria, where we had the pleasure of meeting and become friends with Dejay and we connected like we had always know her.
Your frequent but short visits to our hour home in Winnipeg are greatly appreciated and brought back memories of our younger days.
Good bye, Dino, old friend, you will always be in our heart and missed by all.
Dear Dejais, Sam and family. We are so very saddened by Dino’s passing. He was such a wonderful soul and taught so many of us the importance of healthy living, of loving, of giving, of laughing and of friendship. Rarely a day goes by that we don’t think of him. He was such an inspiration. Dino’s laughter and his love will always be in our hearts. Sending you much love, Mark and Connie Gabriel
Our hearts go out to you Dejais as you struggle with the passing of this beautiful, intelligent and caring man. He gave us all so much but will forever be in our hearts with that infectious laugh, boundless enthusiasm and the warm twinkle in his eye. We count ourselves fortunate to have had the joy of being his friend, and we know that he loved you dearly. You made him so happy.
With all our love Dejais.
