  1. Mr. Waring was my grade 5 and 6 teacher at Lakewood Elementary. Alongside classroom teaching, I have such amazing memories of him from working on the musicals (Oliver, Cinderella, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid), anything Mac related and the ‘news show’ filming projects. He had incredible enthusiasm for details in creative projects and always made you think and strive for your best work. My passion for performing is immensely rooted in my Lakewood memories and I thank Mr. Waring for being a positive role model during that time in my life. My deepest condolences and best wishes to the family.

  2. Condolences to the family. Mr. Waring was my favourite teacher. He developed my love for volleyball and to become a teacher myself. He made the classroom a safe place to learn and have fun, all at the same time. Just last week I was reminiscing and wondering how many students saw my knee X-ray up on the alphabet wall and what ever happened to it. I also remember him taking silly pictures of us and making it look like we were standing in another classmates hand. I’m sure he’s touched so many lives and will be remembered fondly by so many.

  3. Well Mr. Waring started out as my grade 6/7 teacher at John Stubbs. He and Mr.Mallett share the class. They took us on the most memorable trip around BC “ The Be Seeing BC Trip” I remember it was the first time we got to sleep on a ferry. Then we got to see so much of our great province with many laughs along the way. As an adult I was lucky enough to see Mr. Waring come in and out of the school with the salmon program. Then to come read some from his book that the class was reading. One day this young new student teacher came to our school Ms Bell. It didn’t take long to realize that she was Mr.Waring’s daughter Then I got to see much more of him and we shared memories of that long ago trip
Thank you, Waring family for sharing him with so many. May you remember him with the memories and photos he gave you all.
Peace and Love, Sandra Bowes (MacMillan)

  4. My sincere condolences to “mr waring’s” family. He encouraged me when I was “Cinderella” in the school play, he was a great track coach and he made learning fun. I will always remember his joyful smile!

  5. Ted was a “doer”, an amazing array of talents. Many school communities benefited from his tireless efforts in coaching, officiating, drama productions, workshop presennations, among other endeavours. I never worked with Ted, but admired him from afar. Our best to family.

  6. My sincere sympathy to the Ted Waring Family. I had the pleasure of teaching with Ted many years ago at John Stubbs! The Bee Seeing BC plaque on our book shelf brings back many memories of our “Great Adventure” travelling to Port Hardy and taking the ferry to Prince Rupert with excited grade 7’s. On to Kitimat where we had to disappoint waiting billets. Then through the majestic seven sisters and the sights and communities along Highway 16 to Prince George. South to Quesnel and a visit to Barkerville before heading home. Just an example of the excitement and amazing ideas Ted brought to teaching. He will be, and is remembered by many students, teaching colleagues and friends.

  7. I saw Ted a few years back at a Shamrocks ☘️ game, prior to that 35+ years ago Mr Waring was my teacher and friend at Glen lake elementary school. Ted was an amazing leader and mentor. You will be sadly missed.
Sending love and support to his family during this difficult time. Xo

  8. I was shocked and saddened to read of Ted’s passing. Twenty five years ago I got his name to photograph my wedding and after meeting him at a consultation we immediately realized he was indeed one of my patients at the dental office where I was employed. His entire family were patients and we couldn’t believe what a small world it was. Through the years I would see him every 6 months and he also photographed our family twice as we grew to a family of 4. He was my friend and I always proudly stated to the girls at work that he was my photographer. I would also see him at Victoria Royals hockey games which I know he loved going to with his kids and grand children. My heart goes out to you Kathy and family. I hope that in time all your wonderful memories of him help ease the pain and loss. I will miss his upbeat energetic personality and am so grateful to have made that call many years ago.

  9. To Kathy and family,

I had the pleasure of teaching with Ted at Glenlake Elementary. He was a superb teacher and his contributions to the school were many and varied (Swim Coach, Sports Day organizer, computer “guru” and photographer, to name just a few.) Years later when Kathy retired, she passed on “the” salmon tank to me and I was fortunate to have Ted as my trusty salmon expert; answering anxious questions and helping with the successful release at Goldstream.

I will remember Ted for his energy, enthusiasm for teaching and most of all his wonderfully infectious laugh!

    Thinking of you all.

  10. Ted and I were best friends throughout our teen years. Ted was accepted into my family as if he was my brother and I believe I enjoyed the same status with his. We went from being kids to being adults together. Life was pretty magical for us kids in the Braefoot Valley, so many great memories of the times we shared. Rest easy my friend.
